Roles & Responsibilities

  • MD or DO with American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certification in Adult Psychiatry
  • Active unrestricted medical licensure in Florida and Texas; ability to obtain licensure in other states as services scale nationally
  • Board certification in Geriatric Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, or Addiction Psychiatry (preferred)
  • 2-3 years of experience supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners and leading multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative care model; telehealth experience; bilingual English-Spanish preferred

Requirements:

  • Provide clinical leadership to a designated psychiatry pod, supervising a multidisciplinary team and ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and dementia; manage pod-level quality and productivity metrics in collaboration with the Pod NP Lead
  • Deliver direct psychiatric care to a patient panel (diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, medication management, crisis intervention) with ongoing progress monitoring and follow-up using outcome measurement tools
  • Lead team huddles, provide regular clinical supervision and case reviews, support clinician recruitment/onboarding/training, and coordinate care transitions with care management and community services
  • Serve as liaison to other departments (primary care, chronic care management, and community services), coordinate treatment with PCPs and other providers, and contribute to company culture and development, including implementing clinical protocols

As part of our company growth, we seek a compassionate and experienced Psychiatrist for the role of Psychiatrist Pod Lead to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. Reporting to the Medical Director of Geriatric Psychiatry, this role entails direct psychiatric care as well as overseeing a pod of psychiatric nurse practitioners. The ideal candidate has training and experience in diagnosing and treating serious mental health conditions in adult and older adult patients, such as depression and anxiety, dementia, psychosis and substance use disorders. In addition to direct clinical care, the Psychiatrist Pod Lead provides clinical leadership and oversight to a designated psychiatry pod composed of psychiatric nurse practitioners working very closely with the care management team (registered nurses) and Medical Director.  

Due to the clinical aspect of this role, the position requires that you be a board certified practicing psychiatrist. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered for this position

Job Description: 

Psychiatry Pod Lead

  • Provide psychiatric clinical leadership to a designated psychiatry pod (team), ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with SMI, SUD and dementia.

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals

  • Share accountability for pod panel quality and productivity metrics in dyad partnership with Pod Nurse Practitioner Lead 

  • Lead clinical team huddles to ensure the care team is working collaboratively toward improving the lives and clinical outcomes of patients

  • Provide clinical support to the multidisciplinary clinical team who will be providing psychotherapy, supporting caregivers, coordinating transitions of care, and connecting patients to community-based organizations and agencies

  • Provide regular clinical supervision and support to respective pod psychiatric nurse practitioners

  • Conduct regular case reviews, peer supervision sessions, and provide constructive feedback to ensure professional development in clinical competencies and adherence to best practices.

  • Support recruitment process, interview candidates and providing input in hiring process in addition to supporting clinician onboarding and ongoing training 

  • Serve as a key liaison between the psychiatric pod and other departments, including primary care, chronic care management, and community services.

  • Collaborate with PCPs, as well as patients’ other providers, to coordinate treatment and help address co-occurring physical health conditions

  • Contribute to constructing the psychiatrist’s role within the company, including contributing to company culture and serving as an ambassador for the company’s mission.


Direct Psychiatric Care

  • Manage the psychiatric care of a panel of patients, including diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, medication management, and crisis intervention when needed.

  • Ensure continuity of care by monitoring patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and ensuring follow-up care is provided.

  • Use outcome measurement tools during the course of treatment to help patients and the treatment team track progress.

  • Implement and monitor clinical protocols and guidelines that enhance the quality of psychiatric care.

  • Full-time, 40h/week (anticipate 30h/week direct virtual patient care)

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification in Adult Psychiatry is required

  • Active unrestricted medical licensure in the states of practice, Florida and Texas and other states as services are scaled nationally

  • Additional board certification in Geriatric Psychiatry, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry is preferred.

Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric conditions, treatment modalities, and current evidence-based best practices in the field.

  • Experience treating patients with serious mental illness (preferred: experience treating older adults ) and comfort managing patients with comorbid complex medical and psychosocial needs.

  • Leadership experience in clinical psychiatry with proven experience leading, managing, or supervising multidisciplinary teams.

  • Telehealth experience

  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners

  • Experience  leading a multidisciplinary team of providers

  • Experience working in a collaborative care model and with care management teams is a plus

  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

  • This is a remote position.

  • The role will require the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a virtual environment.

  • Physical requirements include ability to use a computer.
