Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive software product management experience, including at least two years leading SaaS/PaaS or enterprise software in the GRC, cybersecurity, or compliance domain.
  • Three or more years of experience working with DoD, IC, or Federal civilian IT/cybersecurity programs, with knowledge of NIST 800-218, CMMC 2.0, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, RMF, and DFARS.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; active clearance strongly preferred; must be a U.S. Citizen; experience with PRDs/BRDs, Agile/Scrum, and ITIL change management.

Requirements:

  • Define, own, and communicate the Optica Security product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap; conduct TAM/SAM/SOM analyses and voice-of-customer research for the DoD GRC market; develop PRDs/BRDs and user stories; present strategy to executives.
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept to general availability, sustainment, and deprecation; establish release schedules, manage sprint planning, UAT, and CRB/CAB processes; define and track product KPIs.
  • Serve as the primary interface between product strategy and engineering; translate requirements into development tasks; coordinate sprint ceremonies and dependency management; ensure architecture supports FedRAMP/IL4/IL5 and DoD security.
  • Develop and execute Go-to-Market strategy for Optica Security; support sales with demonstrations, RFI/RFP responses, and POC engagements; create enablement materials and pursue DoD contract vehicles.

Position Overview

The Product Manager for Optica Security is a strategic, customer-facing leadership role responsible for the full lifecycle of the Optica platform, from market analysis and product strategy through development execution, release management, and go-to-market operations. The Product Manager owns the product vision, drives the roadmap, manages engineering coordination, and directly engages with Department of Defense (DoD) customers and prospects to ensure Optica delivers measurable mission value.

The ideal candidate combines deep familiarity with DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks (CMMC, NIST 800-171, RMF, DFARS) with proven software product management experience in a SaaS/PaaS or enterprise software environment. This individual thrives at the intersection of technology, federal acquisition, and business strategy.


Major Activities

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define, own, and communicate the Optica Security product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap aligned with DoD compliance evolution (CMMC 2.0 phased rollout, NIST 800-171 Rev. 3, Cyber Operational Readiness Assessment (CORA) methodology updates).
  • Conduct Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Addressable Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) analyses for the DoD GRC platform market, including competitive landscape assessment.
  • Identify and prioritize product opportunities through voice-of-customer research, federal regulatory trend analysis, and competitive intelligence gathering across the DoD GRC product ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain detailed product requirements documents (PRDs), Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature specifications.
  • Present product strategy, investment justifications, and performance metrics to executive leadership, OSC Global stakeholders, and OSC Edge Tech senior management.

Product Lifecycle & Release Management

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept through general availability, sustainment, and eventual deprecation for all Optica modules and capabilities.
  • Establish and manage a structured release schedule, including sprint planning cadence, release candidate gates, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production deployment coordination.
  • Lead the Change Review Board (CRB) / Change Advisory Board (CAB) submission process for all product changes, ensuring proper documentation, risk assessment, and stakeholder approval prior to release.
  • Define and track product KPIs including adoption rates, defect density, customer satisfaction (CSAT/NPS), time-to-resolution, and feature utilization metrics.
  • Manage product backlog prioritization using data-driven frameworks (RICE, WSJF, MoSCoW) to balance customer demand, technical debt, and strategic initiatives.

Engineering Coordination & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the primary interface between product strategy and the engineering team, translating business requirements into actionable development work.
  • Coordinate and manage engineering staff activities including sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, capacity planning, and cross-functional dependency management.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to evaluate build vs. buy decisions, technology stack evolution, API/integration strategy, and platform architecture direction.
  • Ensure Optica’s technical architecture supports FedRAMP, IL4/IL5, and DoD cloud security requirements as applicable to target deployment environments.

Sales Engagement & Go-to-Market

  • Develop and execute the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for Optica Security, including positioning, messaging, pricing models (subscription, per-seat, per-assessment), and channel strategy.
  • Directly support sales engagement activities including product demonstrations, RFI/RFP response support, customer discovery calls, and proof-of-concept (POC) engagements with DoD buyer personas.
  • Create and maintain sales enablement materials including one-pagers, ROI calculators, case studies, and technical white papers targeting CORA assessment stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to identify and pursue contract vehicles (ENCORE III, SEWP V, GSA IT Schedule 70, 8(a) sole-source opportunities) as distribution channels for Optica.

Help Desk & Customer Success

  • Establish and oversee the Optica Security help desk function including ticket triage, SLA definition, escalation procedures, and knowledge base management.
  • Monitor customer support trends to identify systemic product issues, training gaps, and feature requests that should feed back into the product roadmap.
  • Define customer onboarding workflows, training programs, and user documentation standards to accelerate time-to-value for new Optica deployments.

Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence

  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis against GRC platforms to identify competitor features and ensure Optica continues to be competitive and delivers the best customer value.
  • Monitor federal acquisition trends, open-source data feeds, USASpending data, and FPDS contract award patterns to inform Optica’s market positioning and pricing intelligence.
  • Track regulatory developments across CMMC, DFARS, NIST, CORA, and DoD CIO directives to ensure Optica maintains first-mover advantage on compliance feature requirements.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required by OSC Edge Tech and in support of organizational objectives.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to own and manage a specific product end-to-end, including defining vision and roadmap, prioritizing features based on customer needs and business objectives, and collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver measurable product outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge working with Secure Software Development Framework (NIST 800-218), DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks including CMMC 2.0, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DFARS 252.204-7012.
  • Strong knowledge working with government clients, their programs, and plans; keen understanding of business management systems in government contracting including, but not limited to, budgeting, SBA, 8(a), DCAA, FAR and contract requirements.
  • Ability to manage product roadmaps, write PRDs/BRDs, and work with Agile/Scrum engineering teams through full development lifecycles.
  • Strong knowledge with Change Advisory Board (CAB) or Change Review Board (CRB) processes and ITIL-based change management practices.

Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient fine motor skills for use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time
  • Visual and communication abilities adequate to perform the essential functions of the job
  •  Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis
  • Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion
  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in software product management with at least two (2) years managing a SaaS, PaaS, or enterprise software product in the GRC, cybersecurity, or compliance technology domain.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working within or directly supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or Federal civilian agency IT/cybersecurity programs.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with:
    • Secure Software Development Framework (NIST 800-218).
    • DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks including CMMC 2.0, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DFARS 252.204-7012.
    • Federal acquisition processes including FAR, DFARS, and familiarity with contract vehicles and 8(a) program structures).
    • Product roadmaps, PRDs/BRDs, and Agile/Scrum engineering teams.
    • Change Advisory Board (CAB) or Change Review Board (CRB) processes and ITIL-based change management practices.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; active clearance strongly preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), or Pragmatic Institute certification.
  • CMMC-related certifications such as Certified CMMC Professional (CCP), Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA), or Registered Practitioner (RP) preferred.
  • Industry certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGRC (formerly CAP), PMP, or equivalent.
  • Background in market sizing methodologies (TAM/SAM/SOM), competitive intelligence frameworks, and pricing strategy for B2G SaaS products or products involving endpoint installation.
  • Experience supporting proposal development (Volume I/II/III writing, pricing strategy, technical approach) for DoD IT/cybersecurity contracts.
