Position Summary: This role is critical to supporting the design, prototyping, and testing of our advanced electro-mechanical systems. As part of a dynamic engineering environment, you will collaborate with engineers to build and test prototypes, troubleshoot complex assemblies, and ensure the successful delivery of innovative solutions. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role ideal for individuals with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for building next-generation technology.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform multidisciplinary system assembly, including mechanical integration and complex electrical wiring, under the guidance of engineering teams.
- Execute system bring-up activities, ensuring the seamless integration and functionality of mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems.
- Lead and execute system-level validation activities, ensuring the fully integrated system meets multidisciplinary design and performance specifications.
- Develop, write, and execute comprehensive test plans, verification and validation (V&V) protocols, and detailed test procedures.
- Perform rigorous functional, environmental, and reliability validation tests on prototypes and early production units.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues, investigate the root causes of multidisciplinary failures during validation, and collaborate with engineers to implement corrective actions.
- Write comprehensive test summaries and validation reports, providing actionable data and insights to the engineering team.
- Support engineers in refining prototype designs by identifying integration, manufacturability, wiring, and performance issues during build, bring-up, and validation phases.
- Read and interpret complex multidisciplinary drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and instructions to perform testing, troubleshooting, and assembly tasks.
- Fabricate and/or assemble, integrate, and maintain test equipment and validation fixtures as required.
- Travel regularly between local SIG SAUER INC. facilities and infrequently for other assignments.
- Occasional international travel to train, test, or maintain systems.
- Maintain a flexible approach to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and targets.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
- Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
Education/Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a system integrator, validation technician, or multidisciplinary engineering technician in a prototype or engineering development lab environment.
- Proven experience executing comprehensive validation plans and conducting verification and validation (V&V) activities for complex, integrated hardware and software systems.
- Proficient in reading and understanding complex mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and test procedures.
- Proficient with common hand tools, power tools, and electrical tooling, such as wire crimpers, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, calipers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, test boxes, or specialized diagnostic equipment.
- Hands-on experience building, wiring, and troubleshooting fully integrated systems (mechanical, electrical, software), e.g., remote-controlled systems, drones, vehicles, or testbeds.
- Experience leading or assisting in system bring-up, running functional checkouts, and diagnosing root causes of issues discovered during validation processe
- Proficient at writing test procedures, documenting test outcomes, writing clear validation summaries, and communicating technical findings to multidisciplinary engineers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications. Familiarity with CAD tools (such as SolidWorks) and basic software/terminal interfaces is a plus. Adaptability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- High technical skills and ability to identify malfunctions in multidisciplinary systems and fix them.
- Ability to work independently, in a team, and representative with customers.
- High-level English skills, reading, writing and speaking.
- Experience with advanced defense systems is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to perform tasks in an assembly line environment, including standing for long periods, repetitive motions, and working in areas with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER INC. security mandates.
