Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a highly skilled Windows Desktop Engineers / Technicians to join our team. The Windows Desktop Engineers will provide support and maintenance for end-user systems and applications in a diverse and dynamic technical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and support desktop systems, applications, and peripheral devices.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for hardware and software issues.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to develop and deploy desktop solutions.

  • Ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of desktop environments.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, user guides, and technical procedures.

  • Implement and manage desktop security policies and best practices.

  • Conduct research and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and user experience.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior desktop engineers and support staff.

  • Coordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; 4+ years of relevant experience may substitute.

  • 3 to 10+ years of experience in desktop engineering depending on level.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking principles, and cloud services.

  • Proven experience with desktop management tools such as SCCM, Jamf, or similar.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or Citrix.

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar.

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc.).

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $40.35 - $54.59. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
