HALO is looking for an Enterprise Data Architect (Data, Analytics & AI) to shape our enterprise data architecture and modern data platform, enabling trusted analytics and responsible AI at scale. You’ll partner with business and technology leaders to frame problems, define outcomes, and deliver data products, semantic definitions, and AI/agentic solutions that drive measurable value.
About the Role
Reporting to the VP of Data & Analytics, you will lead the design and evolution of enterprise data architecture and the data engineering platform, covering data modeling, integrations, governance, and analytics enablement. A core expectation is the ability to deeply understand the business problems to be solved (the “why”), translate them into clear data/analytics requirements (the “what”), and guide implementation patterns and standards (the “how”).
You’ll bring strong Snowflake and data warehousing expertise plus applied knowledge of modern AI (LLMs) and agentic systems. You will evaluate where AI can responsibly improve analytics and automation, lead POCs/pilots, and recommend scalable solutions. This role is highly cross-functional and requires clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the VP of Data & Analytics to shape enterprise data strategy with business and technology leaders, including problem framing, value hypotheses, and measurable outcomes.
- Enterprise Data Architecture
- Lead architecture for enterprise data solutions, including data modeling, enterprise analytics, integrations, and data DevOps.
- Develop and maintain data models that reflect business processes and enable reporting, self-service analytics, and AI use cases.
- Establish and promote best practices for data governance, data quality, and data security across the organization.
- Align data architecture to business goals and Technology strategy by partnering with stakeholders to understand business processes, pain points, and the decisions the data must support.
- Enterprise Data Warehousing (Snowflake)
- Design and implement a medallion architecture in Snowflake (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and semantic layers) to support enterprise analytics and AI.
- Define and maintain business questions, KPIs, and semantic definitions so the semantic layer is trusted, consistent, and usable for analytics and AI applications.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders across key systems (OMS, ERP, CRM, transactional databases) to understand use cases and design data products that support them.
- Ensure data is cleansed, transformed, and documented for reliable analytical and AI consumption.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, data flow documentation, and implementation plans.
- Apply best practices in data warehousing, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Provide guidance on data governance, quality, and security standards.
AI & Agentic Systems (Applied to Data & Analytics)
- Research and stay current on AI/LLM and agentic system capabilities, architectures, and tooling; identify opportunities to apply them to data engineering, analytics, and operational workflows.
- Evaluate AI options (build vs. buy) including vendor/platform features, integration patterns, cost, scalability, latency, and security/compliance considerations.
- Design and execute POCs and pilots with clear success criteria (e.g., accuracy, usability, time-to-value, risk), and document findings and recommendations.
- Architect AI-ready data foundations (semantic layer, metadata, governance, quality) and patterns such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) where appropriate.
- Partner with Security, Legal, and IT to ensure responsible use of AI, including data privacy, access controls, model risk considerations, and auditability.
- Data Engineering Platform Architecture
- Design and oversee the architecture of the data engineering platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
- Provide architectural guidance for data engineering teams using tools such as Apache Airflow, Snowflake, dbt, OpenFlow, n8n, Postgres, and Tableau; define standards and best practices for pipelines, ELT/ETL, and CI/CD.
- Partner with business leaders and cross-functional technology teams to understand business problems, constraints, and decision points driving data needs.
- Elicit and document functional requirements, including problem statements, scope boundaries, assumptions, and success criteria (KPIs), for new capabilities and existing issues.
- Partner with teams responsible for acquiring, collecting, and leveraging data across the enterprise.
- Support data access management in partnership with data owners, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Translate successful AI/agentic POCs into production-ready patterns, including architecture, data requirements, governance, and operational processes.
How You’ll Partner & Lead
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering, data warehousing, and analytics teams.
- Collaborate with IT, business analysts, and product partners to discover and define business problems, translate them into data requirements, and deliver solutions with clear business value.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve data architecture and AI enablement.
- Participate in occasional after-hours support as needed (nights/weekends).
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience as an enterprise data architect (or equivalent) with a strong focus on Snowflake.
- Strong proficiency in SQL.
- Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional and relational modeling, and ELT/ETL pipelines.
- Experience working with OMS, ERP, CRM, and other transactional systems.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to lead discovery with stakeholders, frame problems, identify root causes, and define measurable outcomes for data and analytics solutions.
- Applied knowledge of modern AI (LLMs) and agentic systems, including how to integrate them with data platforms and analytics use cases.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate AI/vendor options, design experiments, execute POCs, and communicate recommendations (tradeoffs, risks, cost, and expected value).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to create clear architecture diagrams, documentation, and delivery plans.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience with master data management (MDM) tools and approaches.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS.
- Python (or similar) scripting experience.
- Experience with LLM application patterns (e.g., RAG), prompt engineering, evaluation/testing, and basic LLMOps/MLOps practices.
- Familiarity with integration and orchestration tools such as OpenFlow, Airflow, and n8n (or similar).
- Experience supporting compliance needs (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with Jira and agile delivery practices.
