Title: Senior Scheduler
Reports To: Senior Scheduling Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
As a Senior Scheduler, you will lead the planning, development, integration, maintenance, and reporting of integrated project schedules for large-scale data center and fiber infrastructure programs. Working in partnership with project managers, engineers, and executive leadership, you will use Primavera P6 and Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling practices to ensure schedules are accurate, compliant, and aligned with contractual and organizational objectives.
This role goes beyond schedule maintenance and focuses on schedule governance, risk identification, performance analysis, and executive reporting. The Senior Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring project timelines are achievable, transparent, and proactively managed across multiple projects or programs.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Development & Maintenance
· Lead development and maintenance of detailed integrated schedules in Primavera P6 across all project phases (design, procurement, construction, commissioning).
· Build and update activity logic, calendars, constraints, and codes to align with established scheduling standards.
· Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis by identifying drivers, float trends, and schedule sensitivities.
· Define and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and ensure proper alignment with scope and deliverables.
· Integrate subcontractor, vendor, and project-level schedules into a unified Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
· Collect schedule inputs from project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors; validate completeness and incorporate updates.
· Maintain baseline and current schedules in accordance with project controls procedures, including documentation of changes.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
· Update schedules using weekly progress reports, field updates, procurement status, and approved change events.
· Analyze schedule performance against baseline and forecast completion dates.
· Run routine schedule quality checks (missing logic, constraints, out-of-sequence progress, negative float) and flag issues for resolution.
· Prepare schedule reports and visuals (Gantt charts, milestone trackers, look-aheads) for internal and external stakeholders.
· Perform variance analysis versus baseline and help identify corrective actions with the project team.
· Prepare and deliver schedule reports and visuals (Gantt charts, milestone trackers, look-aheads) for stakeholders.
· Develop executive-level dashboards and reports using tools such as MS Office, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Coordination, Governance & Compliance
· Participate in schedule review meetings and working sessions; capture action items and follow up on schedule-related requests.
· Assist in the establishment and enforcement of scheduling standards, processes, and governance across projects and programs.
· Perform schedule quality checks including logic validation, constraints review, out-of-sequence progress, and float analysis.
· Support integration of vendor/subcontractor schedules into the project schedule and help maintain alignment to contractual milestones.
· Maintain schedule documentation and audit trail (assumptions, basis of schedule inputs, change logs) in accordance with team procedures.
· Assist with Earned Value Management (EVM) and project controls reporting, as applicable, including time-phased progress updates.
· Promote a strong safety culture and maintain confidentiality of proprietary and project information.
· Support audit readiness and ensure schedules meet contractual and organizational requirements.
Risk Analysis & Forecasting
· Identify schedule risks, constraints, and dependencies that may impact project delivery.
· Perform scenario analysis and “what-if” modeling to evaluate mitigation strategies.
· Support schedule risk analysis efforts (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations where applicable).
· Provide recommendations to project leadership to mitigate schedule delays and optimize performance.
EVM & Project Controls Integration
· Support integration of schedule data with Earned Value Management (EVM) and project controls processes.
· Analyze schedule performance indicators (e.g., SV, SPI) and support cost/schedule alignment.
· Contribute to time-phased reporting and performance measurement activities.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
· Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for scheduling practices and tools.
· Mentor junior schedulers and provide guidance to project teams on scheduling best practices.
· Communicate schedule status, risks, and impacts clearly to project teams and executive leadership.
· Collaborate cross-functionally to align schedule, scope, and cost objectives.
· Promote a strong safety culture and maintain confidentiality of proprietary and project information.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
· Experience: 8+ years of project scheduling experience preferred; experience supporting EPC, construction, or mission-critical projects is a plus.
· Technical Skills: Working proficiency with Primavera P6; strong skills in MS Excel, Power BI, Jira, SharePoint and MS Office Suite; familiarity with CPM scheduling concepts.
· Certifications (Preferred): PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE PSP (or progress toward certification).
· Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills; ability to collaborate across disciplines and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Performance Metrics
· Timeliness and accuracy of schedule updates and weekly reporting deliverables.
· Schedule data quality (e.g., logic integrity, minimal constraints, accurate progress status).
· Responsiveness to stakeholder requests and effectiveness in resolving schedule input gaps.
· Schedule quality compliance (DCMA)
· Effectiveness of risk identification and mitigation
· Improvement in schedule maturity across programs
· Successful integration of multi-project schedules
· Consistency in maintaining schedule documentation and change history.
· Contribution to on-time milestone tracking and forecast accuracy.
Why This Role Matters
The Scheduler enables clear, reliable schedule information that supports decision-making and proactive risk management. By maintaining high-quality schedules and transparent reporting, this role helps project teams coordinate work, manage dependencies, and deliver mission-critical infrastructure safely and on time.
