  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience focused on commission accounting, ASC 606 cost capitalization, and SaaS/subscription business models

  • Advanced data analytics capabilities (SQL, large data set manipulation, BI tools) and a systems-oriented, automation-focused mindset to design SOX-compliant controls and automate complex accounting processes

Requirements:

  • Oversee end-to-end accounting for all sales and partner commissions, ensuring ASC 606 compliance, accuracy of financial statements, and development of an automated commission accounting framework
  • Redefine and maintain commission accounting policies to reflect evolving go-to-market strategies and partner structures, with rollout of new plans and maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • Design and implement scalable, end-to-end automated commission processes; eliminate manual controls; collaborate with Data Services, IT, RevOps, Legal, and Fin Ops; implement AI-enabled tools for anomaly detection, reconciliation automation, predictive accrual modeling, and data quality monitoring
  • Ensure robust internal controls and SOX compliance; oversee reconciliations, investigate unusual trends/outliers; coordinate with Internal Audit and external auditors; establish governance and mentor the team

Job description

What You'll Do:

The Senior Manager, Commission Accounting is responsible for accounting oversight of partner and sales commission accounting, including accruals, expense and payable analysis, capitalization, amortization, and financial reporting. You will ensure technical accounting compliance under ASC 606, drives process automation, strengthens internal controls, and provides analytical insight into commission cost trends.

We are looking for deep systems expertise, technical accounting knowledge, advanced data analytics capabilities, and the ability to redesign and modernize commission processes using automation and AI-enabled tools. You will modernize commission accounting infrastructure, strengthen control environments, and provide predictive insight into one of our most material cost drivers for sales and partner commissions. You will report to the U.S Controller. This is a remote position in the United States.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Oversee end to end accounting for all sales and partner commissions,

  • Ensure application of ASC 606 guidance for incremental costs of obtaining contracts, including evaluation of contract renewals, modifications, disputes, settlements and clawbacks.

  • Redefine and maintain commission accounting policies to reflect evolving go-to-market strategies and partner structures.

  • Ensure all commission accounting activities are accurate, supported, and presented in the financial statements.

  • Lead technical evaluations and operational roll out of new commission plans and partner structures before launch.

  • Maintain documentation to support quarterly audit and financial reporting processes.

  • Design and implement an end-to-end automated commission accounting framework.

  • Develop scalable processes to handle large datasets across global operations.

  • Identify and eliminate manual controls and spreadsheet-based processes.

  • Partner with Data services, IT, Commissions, RevOps, Legal and Fin Ops to improve commission system architecture.

  • Implement AI-enabled tools for:

    • Anomaly detection

    • Reconciliation automation

    • Predictive accrual modeling

    • Data quality monitoring

  • Oversee internal controls over commission accounting

  • Ensure SOX-compliant design and operation of controls.

  • Review account reconciliations for commission-related accounts

  • Evaluate unusual trends and investigate outliers.

  • Coordinate with Internal Audit and external auditors.

  • Manage and analyze large commission data sets to identify

  • Develop predictive models to improve accrual accuracy and forecast reliability.

  • Partner with business teams on cost evaluations, forecasting, and changes in partner commission plans.

  • Oversee commission accounting activities across the organization, even where operational ownership sits elsewhere.

  • Establish governance frameworks to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability.

  • Mentor team members and build technical depth in commission accounting expertise.

What You'll Need to be Successful:

 

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with focus on:

    • Commission accounting

    • ASC 606 cost capitalization

    • SaaS or subscription business models

  • Technical accounting expertise under US GAAP.

  • Experience implementing and/or managing commission systems (e.g., Xactly, CaptivateIQ, Varicent, or similar).

  • Deep ERP experience (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday).

  • Advanced data analytics capabilities (SQL, large data set manipulation, BI tools).

  • Experience designing SOX-compliant controls.

  • Automate complex accounting processes.

  • Experience capitalizing and amortizing commissions across multiple products and contract types.

  • CPA required.

  • Technical depth with the ability to translate accounting requirements into system logic.

  • Analytical rigor.

  • Systems-oriented and automation-focused mindset.

  • Identify accounting risk and challenge existing commission structures.

Pay Range Details

Colorado $126,000-$201,600 (annually) 
Washington $126,000-$222,800(annually) 
California $126,000-$244,000 (annually) 
NYC $152,600-$244,000 (annually) 


The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The
successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic
location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on
