Job description

What You'll Do:

As a Defined Benefit Determination Analyst III, you'll independently analyze and process more complex retirement calculations and review participant data within established timing and quality standards. In this position, you'll serve as a resource for calculation and transaction processing as well as assist in the management and review of participant data and retirement information.

 

Here are a few examples of the types of things you'll do:

  • Perform and review complex retirement calculations and transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, client/legal documents, and tax requirements, while documenting all steps taken.
  • Investigate and resolve calculation and transaction problems.
  • Consistently meet performance standards by ensuring retirement calculations are completed accurately, on time, and with high quality.
  • May be responsible for mentoring, peer to peer training and quality review.
  • Lead or participate in special projects, system testing, and the resolution of escalated issues, while handling other job-related responsibilities as needed.
  • May evaluate client and legal documents, and/or collaborate with internal business partners to ensure alignment, compliance, and process efficiency.
  • Identify, communicate and implement efficiencies around workflows, solutions and procedures to improve quality and enhance customer service.
  • Serve as a resource to internal partners by providing guidance and professional communication to address questions and resolve issues related to new and existing contract calculations and transactions. Offer support and education in problem resolution, transaction processing, and data management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor degree preferably in a major in an analytical field (such as but not limited to Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics) or 2+ years of work related experience preferred.
  • Strong mathematical, technical and analytical skills along with keen attention to detail.
  • Must have strong decision making and organizational skills.
  • Must have strong mentoring, interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Must be able to interpret plan/contract provisions and apply them to the calculation being requested.
  • Must be able to handle a heavy workload and ability to prioritize with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be a team player and a positive influence in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database or similar PC software packages, or the ability to learn, is preferred.
  • High integrity and discretion to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive client data.

Skills that will help you stand out:

  • Knowledge of Defined Benefit plans and the ability to perform accurate calculations based on plan specifications.
  • Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with formulas, macros, and other specialized functions.
Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $22.93 - $40.96 / hour Salary Details:

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies. 

  • Wichita, KS: $22.93 - $30.72 / hour
  • Des Moines, IA: $24.21 - $32.43 / hour
  • Charlotte, NC: $25.48 - $34.13 / hour
  • Chicago/Minneapolis: $28.03 - $37.55 / hour
  • Los Angeles/New York City: $30.58 - $40.96 / hour
Time Off Program: Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Pension Eligible: Yes Additional Information:

Location/Work Arrangement

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
