Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Lead end-to-end management of capital works projects for the Council, including scoping, proposing projects, writing and administering contracts, reviewing feasibilities, coordinating consultants, reviewing designs, tendering and managing delivery programs
  • Liaise with and provide advice to stakeholders (Councillors, Council staff, State Government departments and agencies, consultants, user groups) on project-specific matters
  • Apply Contract Management principles per Council guidelines and WHS requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Contribute to a values-based, agile, team-oriented working environment to deliver quality community outcomes

Title: Project Manager - Capital Works, Temporary - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week (3-year contract)

Salary Range: $111,468.90 to $129,545.15 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

The Capital Projects Business Unit provides a range of capital works program management, project management and design services to the organisation and is committed to providing excellent service to our community.  The service provides timely and accurate advice, and strives to use best practice methods while developing new and innovative solutions to problems in an effective and environmentally sustainable manner.
The Capital Projects Business Unit delivers projects across a range of assets, including but not limited to:

  • Roads and footpaths
  • Drainage
  • Buildings
  • Parks and recreation

Our opportunity :
The key focus areas of this role include: 

  1. Be responsible for managing complex and potentially high profile projects for Council. The tasks involved will include the full range of project management matters, include scoping and proposing projects, writing and administering contracts, reviewing feasibilities and coordinating consultants, reviewing designs, tendering and project managing delivery programs, etc. 
  2. Liaise with, and provide assistance and advice to, all stakeholders (including Councillors, Council Staff, State Government Departments and Agencies, consultants, user groups, etc) on a range of project-specific matters.
  3. Understanding of Contract Management principles (to Northern Beaches Council guidelines and standards, including WH&S) and the ability to implement these according to relevant Legislation.
