Job description

For People is a team of skilled technologists improving government digital services for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. We embed directly in government agencies to modernize software, systems, and platforms so that they better serve people.

Your Impact

As a Senior Product Manager at For People, you will play a pivotal role in the digital transformation of federal government services. You will work with a talented team of professionals dedicated to optimizing data processes, enhancing data analytics capabilities, and building robust data governance frameworks to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Medicaid programs throughout the country. This new project will transform how the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) leverages data to drive informed policy decisions, streamline workflows, and ultimately improve health outcomes for beneficiaries.

Our Culture

For People is a team of humans. We place a significant amount of emphasis on positive work-life balance, setting healthy expectations, and making sure our loved ones are taken care of first. That means picking a child up from school during the day or going for a mid-day walk is okay!

This position is 100% remote. Our entire team is remote across the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. There will never be a return-to-office, as we have none!

This position's published base salary range is between $115,000 and $135,000 annually, plus generous benefits (e.g., For People pays 100% of Gold-tier employee health insurance premiums) and annual company profit sharing.

Your Opportunities

On this project, you will be on a small agile team working on Medicaid data strategy implementation and operational efficiency. As the Senior Product Manager, you will:

  • Drive the implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that addresses fragmented workflows, improves overall data maturity, and establishes consistent data practices across the organization.

  • Establish and enforce data governance frameworks that ensure data quality, integrity, and security. This foundational work will prepare large-scale datasets to safely and effectively support future use of machine learning and advanced AI Medicaid analytics initiatives.
  • Align technical development with CMS's strategic goals by prioritizing product features, managing the development backlog, and leading agile ceremonies like sprint planning and daily stand-ups to deliver continuous value.
  • Oversee the creation of custom reports, interactive dashboards, and optimized data pipelines that empower government teams to make data-driven policy and business decisions.

  • Apply human-centered design principles to data ecosystems, ensuring that data platforms are interoperable and built around the actual needs of users, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to government partners, helping to establish clear roles for data stewardship, supporting communities of practice, and guiding organizational change management.

You Bring

  • A humble and caring attitude aligning with For People’s values – how we work with passion, fun, curiosity, sustainability, humility, and respect.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in product management roles, with a focus on data optimization, data analytics, and data governance.
  • Track record of successfully managing complex data-driven projects within large organizations.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, data integration, data security, and data privacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in navigating multiple relationships and expectations from stakeholders.
  • Experience creating visualizations to communicate complex data scenarios and workflows is a nice-to-have.
The following would be great to have, but not needed.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data programs, policies, and regulations, such as Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and TAF, T-MSIS, and PI data
  • Experience with data analytics tools and platforms, including Databricks, Quicksight, or PowerBI.
  • Experience working closely with government partners.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Figjam, Mural, and Dovetail (or other research repository software).

Additional Details

You must perform all work physically within the United States at all times. In addition, you must be a United States citizen and be able to pass a government-performed public trust background check.
