Requirements:
Maintain general ledgers including revenue, staff expenses postings, accruals, prepayments and other journals; ensure accuracy of coding and payroll postings
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet presentation journals; prepare schedules for year-end and interim audits
Liaise with FPA teams to explain monthly variances to budget and YoY; assist auditors during interim and year-end audits; resolve reconciling items
Approve payments on HSBC banking system; assist with ad hoc project work and finance system improvements (e.g., Agresso fixed asset capitalisations)

Contract type: Full-time, Permanent Location: Brighton, Brighton Head Office (Remote)
The Assistant Financial Accountant role supports the Senior Financial Accountant and is responsible for the integrity of the general ledger for the UK & EU ISCs business. This involves the management of general ledger entries (revenue, payroll, overheads & marketing), variance analysis, balance sheet reporting, reconciliation and controls, monitoring of systems and processes, and relationship management with FP&A teams across the Group.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Maintenance of general ledgers including revenue and staff expenses postings, accruals, prepayments and other general ledger journals
Liaise with the FP&A team to explain monthly variances to budget and YoY
Ensure consistency and accuracy of coding of invoices, expenses and other items
Ensure all payroll journals are correctly posted
Preparation of monthly balance sheet presentation journals
Prepare schedules for the year-end audit and interim audit
Completing actuals for liquidity reporting
Completion of ONS returns when necessary.
Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including unearned revenue, accruals and prepayments. Ensure differences are identified and resolved
Investigate Study Global and other systems related issues as required
Prepare fixed asset capitalisations on Agresso fixed asset module
Approval of Payments on HSBC banking system.
Develop and maintain internal relationships with the Commercial team and Group Financial Control Team
Liaison with auditors at interim and year-end audit
Assist the Senior Financial Accountant or the Commercial team with ad hoc project work as required
Involvement in Finance team projects e.g. finance systems
ABOUT YOU
ACCA/ACA/CIMA studier
Preparation of general ledger journals
Completion of complex and high volume balance sheet reconciliations. Investigating and resolving reconciling items
Ability to communicate effectively and convey technical information to non-finance audiences
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Relationship management and customer service skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Ability to work effectively in a team
Good working knowledge of accountancy systems (Agresso and Study Global a strong advantage)
Intermediate level Excel functions
