Location: For this role we are open to candidates who have flexibility to work on hybrid basis from our office in Galway City two to three days per week.

The Team and Your Role

We're a diverse team driving AI innovation to create transformative value for our organization and customers. We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team of like-minded professionals to help design and deliver innovative AI solutions in a cloud environment. You'll work alongside accomplished engineers who will help take your impact to the next level. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on building robust, scalable backend services and APIs that power our AI-driven products.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality Java services in AWS Cloud, building scalable, reliable backend systems that underpin our AI-powered products
• Design and build RESTful APIs and microservices for Genesys Cloud users, ensuring clean contracts, scalability, and maintainability across distributed systems
• Contribute to AI/ML feature development by integrating AI/ML models into production services, working closely with data scientists and ML engineers to bring models from research to production
• Own features end-to-end from design through to deployment, engaging in all phases of agile software delivery while building alignment among multiple stakeholders
• Learn and implement emerging technologies, contribute to release process improvements, and share knowledge across the team

Required Skills & Experience

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience), with minimum 3 years of software engineering experience
• Strong Java skills with solid understanding of OOP/FP principles, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms. Python experience is also highly valued — candidates with both Java and Python are particularly well-suited to this role
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices in production environments, with a strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, service design, and API best practices
• Experience with AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda), hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling and Git version control, and familiarity with containerization (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code concepts
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and familiarity with at least one AI/ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn), with a willingness to deepen this knowledge on the job
• Effective communicator who builds stakeholder alignment and thrives in agile teams with active participation in code reviews
• Self-motivated problem solver with natural curiosity, enthusiasm for continuous learning, clean code principles, and sharing knowledge with teammates

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI/ML model deployment, MLOps practices, or hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks in production environments
• Experience with event-driven architecture, advanced microservices patterns, serverless computing (AWS Lambda), or knowledge of DevOps and SRE principles beyond basic CI/CD
• Experience with data analysis tools, data streaming platforms (Kafka), building ML pipelines, or familiarity with AI/ML analytics frameworks
• An awkward sense of humor and collaborative mindset (we appreciate authenticity!)
