Position: Senior Strategic Finance Manager
Based in the Jonas Head Office in Markham, ON, the Senior Strategic Finance Manager reports directly to the PYXiS VP Finance, with a dotted-line relationship to the Business Group Leader. This is a highly visible, portfolio-facing role that combines hands-on financial leadership with strategic advisory responsibilities. The Senior Strategic Finance Manager serves as the primary finance partner for a defined subset of PYXiS operating businesses, working closely with executive leadership to provide financial insight, challenge, and guidance. The role supports financial performance, operational efficiency, capital allocation, and acquisition-related activity across this group of businesses. Success in this role requires strong judgment, comfort operating in dynamic environments, and a bias toward practical, value-creating outcomes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting, Financial planning and reporting:
Oversee and support Finance Analysts to ensure accurate, timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting for an assigned group of operating companies.
Ensure the integrity of financial transactions, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly accounting close processes in accordance with IFRS.
Analyze and communicate financial results to senior leadership, providing clear insight into performance drivers, risks, and emerging trends.
Support and challenge business leaders’ forecasts and plans as part of the quarterly forecasting and planning process.
Investigate variances versus plan and forecast, delivering actionable analysis and recommending corrective actions where required.
Monitor revenue, margins, and P&L performance across the assigned businesses, supporting senior management with forward-looking analysis and decision support.
Ensure full compliance with internal controls, corporate requirements, and external audit requests.
Strategic Finance & Operational Improvement:
Partner with the Business Group Leader and senior leadership teams to support strategic decision-making, capital allocation, M&A activity, and capital structure optimization for a defined subset of PYXiS businesses.
Act as an objective thought partner to operating leaders, proactively bringing a point of view, challenging assumptions, and improving decision quality.
Work directly with executive teams across multiple operating companies, providing financial insight, operational guidance, and performance transparency.
Evaluate operational systems, processes, and staffing models to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Deliver clear, practical recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness, policies, and internal processes within the assigned businesses.
Design and implement scalable, repeatable processes that drive sustainable improvements in business process efficiency.
Lead initiatives to strengthen working capital management, cash discipline, and overall financial rigor across the supported group of companies.
Acquisition & Integration Support:
Lead the financial integration of newly acquired businesses within the assigned group, ensuring alignment with PYXiS and Jonas financial standards and investment objectives.
Provide financial due diligence support for acquisition opportunities in partnership with the central M&A execution team
Assist with purchase price accounting and post-close financial setup for new acquisitions in accordance with IFRS.
Prepare and manage earn-out calculations and reporting as defined in acquisition agreements.
People Leadership & Culture:
Coach, mentor, and develop finance team members through regular feedback, performance reviews, and development planning.
Build bench strength within the finance function to support growth and increasing complexity across the assigned businesses.
Uphold and reinforce a culture of ethical behavior, accountability, and high professional standards.
Ensure personal and team compliance with company policies, HR practices, and internal governance requirements.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
CPA designation with strong commercial judgment and financial analysis capability.
Strong working knowledge of IFRS, including application in complex or multi-entity environments.
Proven experience in a management-level finance role within a complex business environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and develop finance professionals.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and performance management.
Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, data analysis, and reconciliation.
Ability to assess commercial risk and understand the accounting implications of contractual terms.
Preferred
Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, including post-acquisition integration activities.
Experience in the software or technology sector.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and/or Vena Solutions FP&A software. Proven experience at a management level in a business or finance environment.
