PostgreSQL DBA

Note:
This position is based in the United States, offers a 100% remote work option, and is open to eligible U.S.-based candidates only.

Database Administration & Operations

• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch PostgreSQL databases across production, DR, and non-production environments.
• Manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures using streaming replication and logical replication.
• Perform backup and recovery using Barman and native PostgreSQL utilities. Ensure database uptime, performance, and scalability in 24x7 environments.

Performance & Tuning

• Monitor and tune SQL queries, indexes, memory, I/O, and vacuum processes.
• Analyze execution plans and resolve complex performance bottlenecks.
• Perform capacity planning and growth forecasting.

Security & Compliance

• Implement database security best practices including RBAC, encryption (at rest and in transit), auditing, and logging.
• Support compliance requirements such as HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS (as applicable).

Automation & DevOps Integration

• Automate database tasks using Shell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Work closely with application, cloud, and infrastructure teams.
• Cloud & Modern Platforms
• Manage PostgreSQL on cloud platforms including AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, Aurora), Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and GCP Cloud SQL (preferred).
• Experience in migrating databases from on-premises to AWS RDS using DMS and native migration tools.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL as well as on-prem PostgreSQL databases.

Support & Leadership

• Act as L3 escalation point for complex incidents and outages.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent fixes.
• Mentor L1/L2 DBAs and provide technical guidance.
