JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to oversee the financial operations of our organisation and support the leadership team in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all bookkeeping functions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in accounting systems, proven experience managing end-to-end bookkeeping, and the ability to provide meaningful financial insights to support business decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Support Director in the performance of their duties.
● Accurately enters all transactions daily/weekly/monthly into accounting system.
● Uploads supporting evidence for all transactions entered.
● Performs bank reconciliations for all client bank accounts.
● Preparation of payroll for multiple entities on a weekly basis.
● Preparation of monthly or Quarterly PAYGW, PAYGI or Business Activity Statements.
● Preparation of quarterly superannuation returns for all entities as required.
● Monitor and ensure compliance with all statutory deadlines and submission of returns for clients by the deadline.
● Reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts with main general ledger account.
● Reconciles general ledger accounts with external records (eg ATO integrated client account, super and payroll tax).
● Able to competently prepare a fully reconciled Trial Balance.
● Able to competently prepare Adjustment Journals.
● Invoicing of client statements and receivables.
● Promptly informs the Manager of any issues with accounts.
● Maintains and builds a supportive and effective team culture.
● Upholds and promotes the firm’s values.
● Maintains the highest ethical and professional standards.
SKILLS:
Intermediate Skills with XERO, QuickBooks or equivalent.
Intermediate Word and Excel skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Intermediate MS Excel and MS Word Certification.
Familiarity with the Australian Taxation Office portal.
Well-honed bookkeeping skills with above average communication skills.
At least 5+ years’ experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
At least 2+ years’ experience in Australian Bookkeeping.
