General Summary

The Director of Data Strategy & Audience Insights leads CT Public's organization-wide data strategy, ensuring data across audience, digital, marketing, and membership systems is accurate, accessible, and consistently used to inform strategic decision-making. This role oversees analytics, reporting, and audience intelligence efforts that support decision-making across almost all organizational revenue initiatives.  



The Director establishes data governance standards, reporting frameworks, and documentation practices that promote transparency, consistency, and effective use of data across the organization. By translating complex data into actionable insights, this role helps teams identify opportunities to grow audiences, strengthen engagement, and advance CT Public’s strategic goals.  



Essential Job Functions:  

Leads Organizational Data Strategy and Governance  

  • Develops and oversees Connecticut Public’s data strategy to ensure data across audience, marketing, digital, and membership platforms is reliable, standardized, and used effectively in decision-making.  

Generates Audience Insights to Support Strategic Growth  

  • Analyzes audience behavior and engagement across broadcast and digital platforms to produce insights that support audience growth, engagement, and revenue initiatives.  

Provides Strategic Reporting and Data-Driven Decision Support  

  • Develops reporting frameworks |analytics systems that enable leadership to make informed strategic and operational decisions.  

Enable Cross-Organizational Data Collaboration  

  • Partners with teams across the organization to ensure data insights align with business priorities and inform content, marketing, product, and audience strategies.  

Leads and Develops the Analytics Function  

  • Provides leadership | mentorship to analytics staff and promotes a culture of data-informed decision making and continuous improvement.  

Responsibilities: 

Data Strategy & Governance  

  • Conducts regular audits of data systems, dashboards, and reporting processes to ensure accuracy |efficiency 
  • Ensures consistent metrics, data definitions, and reporting frameworks.  
  • Establishes data governance practices including documentation, transparency, and reporting standards.   
  • Monitors and evolves data collection methods, reporting workflows, and dashboards.   

Analytics & Audience Insights  

  • Analyzes audience behavior across broadcast, digital, and emerging platforms to identify opportunities for growth and engagement.  
  • Defines and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) measuring audience growth, engagement, and organizational impact.   
  • Develops measurement frameworks that connect audience engagement with brand, membership, and revenue outcomes.  
  • Translates complex data into actionable insights that inform content strategy, marketing effectiveness, and revenue initiatives.   

Reporting & Decision Support  

  • Builds scalable and automated reporting systems that increase data accessibility and reduce duplication.   
  • Delivers insights that inform strategic planning, programming priorities, and audience development initiatives.   
  • Prioritizes high-impact reporting that supports strategic decision-making for leadership.  

Cross-Organizational Collaboration  

  • Communicates complex insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  
  • Partners with content, marketing, product, technology, and membership teams to align analytics priorities with organizational objectives.   
  • Serves as a strategic advisor on audience insights, platform performance, and emerging media trends.   

Team Leadership  

  • Fosters a collaborative, data-informed culture that supports experimentation, learning, and innovation.  
  • Leads, coaches, trains, and mentors analytics staff, including the Audience Research Analyst.   

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  
Knowledge of:  

  • Data governance and reporting standards.  
  • Digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Search Console, etc.), audience measurement insights, database structures, data visualization tools, and concepts.  
  • Evolving audience behaviors, media consumption patterns, and emerging digital platforms within the broadcast and digital media landscape.  
  • Microsoft Office Suite.  

Skill In:  

  • Analyzing and interpreting audience, content, and platform performance data to support strategic decision-making  
  • Demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize, organize, multi-task, accomplish work in a timely manner, and meet specified deadlines.  
  • Taking ownership and action within the scope of the position to ensure and/or improve the success of products and services.  
  • Working with complex data ecosystems, including data warehouses or lakehouse environments, organizing raw data, structuring datasets, and supporting scalable analytics workflows  

 Ability to:   

  • Align analytics initiatives with organization priorities and focus resources on high-impact insights.   
  • Analyze audience segments and engagement patterns to inform content strategy, marketing effectiveness, and audience growth initiatives.  
  • Discover hidden insights through data mining techniques on un-structured business problems.  
  • Learn new software, products and processes around evolving business needs.  
  • Implement governance practices, documentation standards, and reporting frameworks that ensure transparency, consistency, and reliability of organizational data.   
  • Interpret data and communicate complex findings and implications into clear insights and strategic recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.  
  • Possess an intellectual curiosity and inquisitive nature while performing at a high-level within an ambiguous environment.  
  • Possess a visceral distaste of office politics and gossip.

The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.  Job functions are typically performed under conditions the DOL describes as light work: exerting up to 25lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10lbs of force frequently and may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Additionally, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods, have close visual acuity, talk and read, type, or manipulate data. 

Working Environment  
This position is expected to work mostly remote, although an in-person presence may occasionally be required.  Standard office setting; work from home per policy; varied work schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and early mornings depending on operational needs.  This position is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions at the office. Other job functions are performed under conditions such as those found in general office work.  Full-scale supervision is required for this position. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work  
This is a full-time, salary exempt position.  The normal workday is between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, but can include weekend and evening shifts to support work. 

Education and Experience  
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Marketing, Digital Media AND a minimum of seven (7+) years of direct and sustained professional experience  AND/OR any similar combination of education and experience. 


Compensation$85,280-$127,920
