Job Description Summary:

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test frameworks and pipelines that ensure the highest quality of our software products. You will work closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps engineers to embed quality at every stage of the software development lifecycle.

About Team:

Our team collaborates with Walmart International, which has over 5,900 retail units operating outside of the United States under 55 banners in 26 countries including Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java (TestNG / JUnit / Cucumber / RestAssured)
  • Build and enhance API automation test suites for REST/GraphQL services
  •  Develop reusable test libraries, utilities, and page object models for UI and API layers
  •  Perform code reviews for test automation code to ensure quality, maintainability, and best practices
  •  Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitHub Actions / Concord / Looper)
  •  Manage test execution triggers, reporting, and gating within pipelines
  •  Collaborate with DevOps teams to shift testing left and ensure automated tests run on every PR/merge
  •  Configure and maintain test environments in collaboration with infrastructure teams 
  •  Execute and validate tests in cloud environments (AWS / Azure / GCP)
  •  Understand containerised testing with Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes
  •  Work with cloud-native services and validate distributed microservices architecture
  •  Experience with cloud monitoring/observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, CloudWatch) 
  •  Write complex SQL queries to validate data integrity, transformations, and consistency
  •  Perform database-level testing across relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases
  •  Validate ETL pipelines and data flows as part of end-to-end testing 
  •  Define and implement test strategies for functional, regression, integration, performance, and smoke testing
  •  Analyze test results, identify flaky tests, and drive stability improvements
  •  Conduct root cause analysis on test failures and defects
  •  Participate in sprint ceremonies — story grooming, test planning, retrospectives
  •  Report quality metrics and testing KPIs to stakeholders

What you'll bring:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software testing with strong automation focus
  •  Strong proficiency in Java with practical experience building automation frameworks from scratch
  •  Demonstrated experience in API test automation using RestAssured or equivalent
  •  Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and working in agile/DevOps environments
  •  Good working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
  •  Strong SQL skills — ability to write queries for data validation and testing
  •  Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems testing
  •  Experience with Docker and basic understanding of containerised test execution
  •  Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (JMeter / Gatling / Locust) — test planning, execution, and analysis
  •  Experience with mobile test automation using Appium for iOS and/or Android platforms
  •  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  •  Strong communication skills — ability to articulate quality risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders
