  • Deliver inpatient consultative services across affiliated hospitals, including ordering, interpreting, and communicating diagnostic test results, and coordinating with inpatient teams
  • Perform and interpret hands-on echocardiography, including fetal echocardiography when possible, and care for pediatric patients with heart failure
  • Participate in consultative rotations and coverage at high-volume birthing centers; maintain proficiency with EMR systems and echocardiography reporting platforms, ensuring timely documentation and billing

Description:

Position Summary:
The Pediatric Cardiologist will provide comprehensive outpatient and consultative care to pediatric patients with suspected or confirmed cardiac conditions. This role includes both outpatient clinical responsibilities and inpatient consultative services across affiliated hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient pediatric cardiology consultations and follow-up care for patients with known or suspected cardiac conditions
  • Obtain detailed patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic testing, including:
    • Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
    • Echocardiograms
    • Holter monitors and cardiac event monitors
  • Determine appropriate use of additional diagnostic testing modalities and interpret results accordingly
  • Communicate findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans effectively with patients, families, and referring physicians
  • Provide inpatient consultative services, including ordering, interpreting, and communicating diagnostic tests and results
  • Deliver in-house consultative services, with potential coverage at:
    • Northside Hospital
    • Scottish Rite Hospital
  • Participate in consultative rotations, including coverage at high-volume birthing centers
  • Provide care for pediatric patients with heart failure
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in hands-on echocardiography
  • Perform and interpret fetal echocardiograms (preferred)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain proficiency in multiple electronic medical record (EMR) systems and echocardiography reporting platforms
  • Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation and billing
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and compliance standards of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Cardiology and affiliated hospitals

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
