Requirements:

Own the end-to-end financial data flows supporting accounting processes, designing scalable data sourcing and transformation for financial bookings, and ensuring accuracy, traceability and auditability of inputs.
Act as the primary interface between Accounting, Data Engineering and Finance Systems teams, translate accounting requirements into technical data specifications, and prioritize and manage the development of finance data pipelines.
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes through improved data availability and structure, reduce manual data manipulation, and improve the efficiency and reliability of month-end close.
Develop operational financial reporting and governance, including reporting for credit control and collections, working capital monitoring, revenue operational reconciliation, and transaction-level financial controls, while ensuring consistent definitions and alignment with ERP structures.

Job description

Purpose of Position

The Finance Operations Data Lead will lead the development of scalable financial data processes that support accounting operations. The role sits between Accounting, Data Engineering and Finance Systems, ensuring that operational data required for financial reporting is sourced, transformed and delivered accurately and efficiently. In addition, the role will support our accounting teams to be truly value-adding by developing and driving adoption of reporting & BI tools that improve accounting efficiency and financial process visibility.

This role acts as the Product Owner for finance data processes, defining requirements, prioritizing development and ensuring accounting teams have the information needed to execute financial close and other processes effectively.

Key Tasks

Financial Data Process Ownership

Own the end-to-end financial data flows supporting accounting processes
Design scalable processes to source and transform data required for financial bookings
Ensure accuracy, traceability and auditability of financial data inputs

Cross-Functional Coordination

Act as the primary interface between Accounting, Data Engineering and Finance Systems teams
Translate accounting requirements into technical data specifications
Prioritize and manage development of finance data pipelines

Process Optimization

Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes through improved data availability and structure
Reduce manual data manipulation performed by accounting teams
Improve the efficiency and reliability of month-end close processes

Operational Financial Reporting

Develop reporting to support accounting and operational finance processes such as: Credit control and collections, Working capital monitoring, Revenue operational reconciliation, Transaction-level financial controls
Provide accountants with visibility into financial process drivers and anomalies

Data Governance

Ensure consistent definitions and governance for financial data used in accounting processes
Work with Finance Systems to maintain alignment between source systems and ERP structures

Key Skills

5+ years experience in Finance, Data Analytics, or Finance Systems
Experience working cross-functionally across finance and data teams
Solid understanding of accounting processes (close cycle, revenue recognition, reconciliations, working capital)
Ability to translate accounting requirements into data specifications
Understanding of data pipelines and data modelling
Strong SQL and data analysis capabilities
Experience working with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
Experience working with ERP systems and financial data structures
Understanding of data pipelines and data modelling
Experience managing cross-functional projects or acting as a product owner
Strong process improvement mindset
Ability to structure complex financial data problems
Capable of communicating complex problems to all level of stakeholders
Fluent / native-level English language skills (C1+)
Bachelor’s Degree in a Finance, Business or Analytics related field (not essential)
