Roles & Responsibilities

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in marketing, communication, business, higher education, nonprofit management, or a related field

Requirements:

  • Conduct outreach to at least 100 marketing clubs (via Instagram and email) to promote conversion to AMA Collegiate Chapters; build and maintain a prospect list and track outreach and conversions in a shared report
  • Support planning and execution of the inaugural AMA Collegiate Chapter Leaders Bootcamp; set up registration forms, Zoom links, post-event surveys, and attendance tracking; assist with speaker coordination and event logistics
  • Recruit professionals and students for the 2026 Collegiate Mentorship Program; develop and manage outreach lists and track applications generated from recruitment efforts
  • Identify and maintain a speaker prospect database for AMA Career Week and ICC; create a vetted list of potential speakers and compile a comprehensive speaker pipeline

The American Marketing Association is looking for a Collegiate Communities Intern for the Summer of 2026!

What to know about this role

  • This is a twelve (12) week, 20-hour per week internship from Monday, June 8th, 2026, to Friday, August 28th, 2026. 
  • The hourly rate for this position is: $18.00 per hour
  • We are a fully remote organization with team members across the country. Work from the comfort of your home, a local coffee shop, or wherever in the U.S. brings you joy! Please note that you MUST live in one of the following states to be considered for this temporary role:
    • Alabama, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin

This internship lets you jump in and work on real projects that support one of the largest collegiate marketing communities in the country — and you’ll get to do it with a fun, collaborative team. You’ll help grow chapters, support big programs and events like ICC, and leave with hands-on experience in program planning, community building, and teamwork — plus real work you can put on your resume.

 

What you’ll be doing 

Collegiate Chapter Growth & Outreach Initiative

  • Conduct outreach to at least 100 marketing clubs (via Instagram and email) to promote conversion to AMA Collegiate Chapters
  • Build and maintain a prospect list of schools with existing marketing organizations
  • Track outreach, responses, and conversions in a shared report
  • AMA Collegiate Chapter Leaders Bootcamp Execution
  • Support the planning and execution of the inaugural Chapter Leaders Bootcamp
  • Set up registration forms, Zoom links, post-event surveys, and attendance tracking
  • Assist with speaker coordination and event logistics

2026 Collegiate Mentorship Program Recruitment Campaign

  • Recruit both professionals and students through targeted direct outreach
  • Develop and manage outreach lists and track applications generated from recruitment efforts

Speaker & Content Pipeline Development

  • Identify and compile a vetted list of potential speakers for AMA Career Week and ICC
  • Create and maintain a speaker prospect database

Competition & Participation Landscape Analysis

  • Build a comprehensive list of all marketing competitions and participating schools
  • Cross-reference competition participation with AMA collegiate community data to identify growth opportunities

Mentorship Program Resource Development

  • Review, edit, and improve collegiate mentor guides
  • Support content updates for mentorship program materials

Collegiate Chapter Leader Handbook Creation

  • Draft and develop a comprehensive Chapter Leader Handbook for student leaders
  • Organize content, standardize formatting, and prepare for publication

Chapter Health & Risk Audit

  • Audit chapter health reports to identify at-risk chapters
  • Produce a summary report with insights and recommended follow-up actions

Forum & Event Branding Toolkit

  • Create reusable image templates for Chapter Leader Forums and collegiate communications

Organizational Engagement & Professional Development

  • Participate in Collegiate Team meetings, Department meetings, and AMA Town Halls

 

What you bring to the table

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in marketing, communication, business, higher education, nonprofit management, or a related field
  • Prior experience volunteering or being a member of a student or community-based organization.   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Ability to synthesize information, track progress, and document outcomes across multiple initiatives.
  • Experience with Slack, Google Workplace, and conducting online research
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to engage with students, professionals, and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborative, professional, and student-centered mindset.
  • Ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, volunteers, and internal staff stakeholders.

What to expect from the interview process

  • Hiring Manager resume review

  • 30-minute phone interview with a member of AMA’s People and Culture team 
  • Quick assignment reviewing our collegiate community website to present to the hiring manager
  • Virtual Interview with the hiring manager and the role’s mentor that you’ll be working closely with.
