ABOUT THE ROLE
The In-House Voucher Counselor plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive support throughout the lifecycle of the Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit (SJDB) process. Collaborating with the Operations Manager and External Sales Voucher Counselor, their focus extends beyond operational support, ensuring both quality service and assistance for the injured worker and our clients. This individual collaborates closely with key stakeholders, including the Voucher Case Specialists, Gemini Leadership, schools, and incoming case referrals.
As a designated expert on Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit (SJDB) services at Gemini, the In-House Voucher Counselor takes on the responsibility of ensuring effective collaboration with key stakeholders. Additionally, they remain current with continued education classes and actively contribute to ongoing training initiatives within the voucher team.

- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
- Compensation: $70,304-$94,000 Annually
The pay range for this role is $70,304-$94,000 annually. Starting pay for new hires is typically within the lower third of the range: $70,304-$78,203 . Exceptions may be made based on factors such as education, specialized skills, or significant relevant experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct the Voucher intake process, ensuring clarity on benefits to injured workers and outlining the support to be provided by the assigned Case Specialist for a smooth transition
- Collaborate with Case Specialists on routine case file reviews to ensure cases are progressing as expected and meeting critical deadlines
- Handle all escalated concerns for each case, providing timely and effective resolutions
- Stay current on industry-related topics, updates, and changes to regulations within the Workers' Compensation realm
- Collaborate with the Voucher team to maintain efficient case flow and operational excellence
- Maintain subject matter expertise within the SJDB industry and promote cross-functional awareness and education to effectively advance the service offerings and company initiatives through leadership, planning and established business standards
- Perform all duties and responsibilities associated with being a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to injured workers and client attorneys
- Develop and deliver regular training sessions for the voucher team, aiming to maintain the highest standards of quality and service, with collaborative input from the External Sales Voucher Counselor
- Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements
- Attend educational workshops and industry events, review professional publications, establish personal networks with industry influencers and participate in professional societies
- Promote Gemini core values, standards of conduct/integrity and its culture by employing high ethical standards and leading by example
- Exercise a high level of independent judgment and discretion while operating under general supervision
- Perform additional duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING
Education and/or experience:
- Undergraduate degree in related field required
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in conducting vocational evaluations, counseling and placement of disabled adults
- Vocational and Return-to-Work Counselor (VRTWC) Certification and Accreditation required
- Previous legal experience is preferred but not required
- Thorough understanding of workers’ compensation regulations, codes and guidelines as they pertain to vocational rehabilitation and the overall industry
- Industry knowledge and strong relationships with all pertinent parties in the workers' compensation realm
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual or multilingual language capabilities a definite plus
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the SJDB industry and operational processes
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis of issues as they arise to cultivate a problem-solving culture
- Excellent organizational skills

Technology:
- Proficiency in using office software, business phone systems, video conferencing, and other computer programs, including Google Workplace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, etc.)
- Skilled at using data and analytics to forecast, drive results, make decisions and provide product improvement to increase sales performance
Other:
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and current auto insurance
- Demonstrate professional appearance and demeanor at all times

TRAVEL
Position requires up to 10% travel within California
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, to include:
- Lifting, bending, standing, climbing or walking while carrying out assigned duties
- Sitting for at least one hour at a time (total: 4-6 hours/day)
- Keyboarding for extended periods of time (total: 2-4 hours/day)
- Using a phone with or without a headset for extended periods (total: 3-5 hours/day)
- Sitting and/or driving for extended periods of time, up to 4-6 hours in a day and up to 250-300 miles per day
- Traveling to and from law offices <15 minutes at a time, multiples times throughout the day
