Job Summary:

Performs remote interrogations of pacemakers, defibrillators and implantable loop recorders using device company websites. Schedules appointments, imports reports, enters data in the proper systems and prepares reports for the physician and the billing department.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Remotely interrogates pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and  implantable loop recorder (ILR) patients.
  • Recognizes abnormalities, malfunctions and “end of service” indicators.  Notifies cardiologist and assists in scheduling patients for follow up or replacement as indicated.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes with other members of the healthcare team to respond to, plan and initiate timely and efficient care.
  • Educates patients and families regarding device function and clinic follow up scheduling and documents patient interaction thoroughly and accurately.
  • Imports and forwards report within information to referring physicians and providers.
  • Ensures timely and proper documentation and billing.
  • Participates in the device remote monitoring, billing issues and reporting issues.
  • Supports all aspects of documentation and follow-up reports.
  • Provides cross-coverage as necessary and serves as a resource to staff, other departments, and administration.
  • Maintains knowledge of hospital, department, and regulatory agency policies and requirements and participates in continuing education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' pacemaker, defibrillator or Paceart remote monitoring experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Occasional driving.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
