Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Research Scientist to join our team! In this role you will get to research and develop complex scientific models as well as help lead current and new programs.

This position is contingent upon funding

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Work with a team of scientists and engineers to improve and add new capabilities to existing numerical models, including an advanced atmospheric transport and dispersion model and/or high-temperature multi-physics model
  • Document and present work to team members, customers, and to the modeling community
  • Keep current with new developments in numerical methods and advances in AI/ML as they relate to scientific modeling
  • Support Agile software development using DevSecOps and CI/CD tools
  • Support program management needs in existing programs
  • Support business development efforts to help grow existing programs and pursue new opportunities

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Secret Level Clearance
  • BS degree and 8+ years of related professional experience; PHD preferred
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: atmospheric transport and dispersion, computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer
  • Knowledge and experience working with scientific models
  • Ability to work independently and also work well with others in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects and people
  • Ability to support business development efforts
  • Occasional CONUS Travel may be required


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • 2 years or more of experience managing projects and personnel
  • Knowledge and experience with AI/ML and GPU computing as they related to scientific modeling
  • Experience coding in Fortran – understanding of both legacy and modern Fortran
  • Experience with C, C++, Python, and/or Java

Security Clearance Requirement:

An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.​

Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $181,100.00
