Roles & Responsibilities

  • Expertise in data visualization tools (Tableau, Birst, Power BI) and experience analyzing marketing performance across channels
  • Excellent data storytelling and communication; proficient in Microsoft Office; able to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Requirements:

  • Analyze complex data ecosystems: validate metrics across sources and identify root causes behind inconsistencies
  • Build dashboards and monitor performance across returning member cohorts; identify low-risk segments with strong growth potential and actionable insights
  • Forecasting: support the returning forecast process by analyzing variances between actuals and projections and improving forecast accuracy over time
  • Design and execute the returning marketing and risk test-and-learn roadmap; optimize the channel mix (including Spanish-speaking members); collaborate with cross-functional teams and present insights to senior leadership

SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced marketing analyst to drive performance marketing for Oportun’s Personal Loans product, with a focus on the returning member segment and website analytics. In this role, you will influence key growth levers, shape strategy, and support a robust test-and-learn agenda.

 

You will partner closely with Credit Risk, Data Science, Product, and Finance teams to improve segmentation, streamline processes, and drive measurable improvements in campaign performance. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment, with the opportunity to expand access to responsible lending for consumers with limited or no credit history.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze complex data ecosystems: Understanding pipelines, validate metrics across sources, and identify root causes behind inconsistencies.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Build dashboards, monitor and analyze performance across returning member cohorts, identifying low-risk segments with strong growth potential and actionable insights.
  • Forecasting & Performance Management: Support the returning forecast process by analyzing variances between actuals and projections, and improving forecast accuracy over time.
  • Test-and-Learn Strategy: Design and support execution of the returning marketing and risk roadmap, ensuring a disciplined approach from experimentation through rollout.
  • Channel Optimization & Expansion: Optimize and expand the marketing channel mix, with a focus on strategies that effectively engage Spanish-speaking members and deepen loyalty.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Credit Risk, Data Science, Finance, and Product teams to align on strategy, improve processes, and drive business outcomes.
  • Business Communication: Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights. Present recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to inform strategic and tactical decisions.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in an analytical or data-driven role (financial services, fintech, or consulting preferred)
  • Proven experience analyzing and optimizing marketing performance across channels
  • Strong SQL skills (any variant); experience with Databricks required; Python or R preferred
  • Expertise in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Birst or Power BI
  • Experience in Amplitude is a plus
  • Skilled in data storytelling to drive business decisions among technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, and agile environment
