Job description

This is a remote position.

Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior InterSystems Integration Developer to join our healthcare integration team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust interoperability solutions using InterSystems technologies.This role involves working closely with NHS Trusts and UK healthcare organizations to develop and manage inbound and outbound interfaces, ensuring secure, reliable, and standards-compliant data exchange between clinical systems.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain healthcare integration solutions using InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health, HealthConnect, and/or Rhapsody.
  • Build, test, deploy, and support inbound integration interfaces to enable seamless NHS and healthcare system interoperability. Translate business, operational, and clinical requirements into scalable technical integration workflows.
  • Implement and manage healthcare messaging standards, including HL7 v2.x and FHIR.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical stakeholders, solution architects, testers, and delivery teams to resolve complex integration challenges.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, procedures, and scripts to support data transformation, persistence, and reporting.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance across all integration activities.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including interface specifications, mappings, workflows, and operational runbooks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to interfaces, message processing, data transmission, and application performance.
  • Support production environments and contribute to continuous improvement of integration platforms and delivery practices.


Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with InterSystems IRIS, IRIS for Health, HealthConnect, and/or Rhapsody.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare interoperability standards, including: HL7 v2.x HL7 v3
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, transforming, and managing data in SQL Server or other RDBMS platforms.
  • Proven experience developing and managing complex healthcare integration interfaces.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with FHIR for modern healthcare API-based data exchange.
  • Knowledge of SOAP and RESTful web services.
  • Familiarity with XML, JSON, XSLT, and message transformation techniques.
  • Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices for integration platforms.
  • Experience with Docker or containerised deployments.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS and GCP Platforms.
  • Experience working with UK EPR / EHR systems (e.g. Cerner, Epic).
  • InterSystems or Rhapsody certifications.

Experience Level

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare system integration and interface development.
  • Experience working within UK healthcare / NHS environments is highly desirable.
