  • Negotiation and Market Strategy: Negotiate broker compensation agreements, underwriting authorities, and service-level commitments that optimize carrier alignment and client outcomes.
  • Performance Management and Market Intelligence: Develop and maintain detailed carrier performance scorecards and conduct quarterly business reviews; monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and capacity shifts to advise leadership on opportunities or risks.
  • Leadership, Collaboration, and Representation: Mentor Carrier Relations Associates and Analysts; collaborate with Placement, Production, and Industry Practice Leaders to align carrier strategies with client needs; represent the firm at carrier summits and industry conferences.

Job description

The Senior Carrier Relationship Manager serves as a senior leader within the brokerage’s Carrier Relations team, responsible for building and managing deep, strategic partnerships with the firm’s most critical P&C insurance carriers.

This role is pivotal in shaping the firm’s market access, negotiating carrier compensation and service agreements, and ensuring alignment between carrier capabilities and the brokerage’s client and growth strategies.

Acting as a strategic conduit between carrier executives and internal business leaders, the Senior Relationship Manager drives profitability, innovation, and service excellence across all P&C lines.

Your Impact

  • Strategic Partnership Management: Lead and strengthen executive-level relationships with top-tier P&C carriers to enhance market access, capacity, and underwriting responsiveness.
  • Negotiation & Market Strategy: Negotiate broker compensation agreements, underwriting authorities, and service-level commitments that optimize carrier alignment and client outcomes.
  • Market Optimization: Evaluate carrier performance by analyzing premium flow, placement ratios, and profitability metrics to inform allocation strategies and maximize growth opportunities.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner closely with Placement, Production, and Industry Practice Leaders to ensure carrier strategies support client needs and growth objectives.
  • Performance Management: Develop and maintain detailed carrier performance scorecards and quarterly business reviews to assess results and drive accountability.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor emerging trends, regulatory developments, and market capacity shifts within the P&C landscape; advise leadership on potential opportunities or risks.
  • Advocacy & Escalation: Serve as the senior escalation point for complex underwriting or service issues requiring carrier engagement at an executive level.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead quarterly and strategic planning discussions with carriers to align on product innovation, data-sharing initiatives, and growth targets.
  • Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide Carrier Relations Associates and Analysts, promoting excellence, consistency, and transparency in all carrier communications.
  • Representation: Represent the firm at key carrier summits, industry conferences, and advisory boards, reinforcing the brokerage’s market leadership position.

Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA) or professional designations (CPCU, CIC, ARM, CRIS) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 plus years of progressive experience in P&C insurance market relations, carrier management, underwriting, or brokerage placement.
  • Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of commercial P&C products, underwriting structures, and carrier distribution strategies across admitted and non-admitted markets.
  • Negotiation Acumen: Proven success negotiating national-level compensation programs and capacity agreements with major insurers.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaborate across multiple business lines and geographies within a large, matrixed organization.
  • Analytical & Strategic Skills: Strong command of data analysis, market performance metrics, and strategic planning methodologies.
  • Communication: Exceptional executive presence and communication skills with the ability to engage senior carrier and internal leadership.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM platforms, business intelligence tools, and data visualization systems to manage carrier performance.

Pay Range:

$85,000 - $150,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for this role.
