Requirements:

  • Creative concepting and pre-production: creating concept pitch decks, video treatments, storyboards, shot lists, production schedules, location scouting, and talent prep
  • On-set production and direction: act as on-set director, coordinate lighting and camera setup, communicate expectations to on-screen talent, and ensure deliverables align with the creative vision
  • Post-production editing and asset delivery: edit videos per creative brief, color correct footage, create simple motion graphics, and deliver assets for paid media, curriculum, and cross-functional uses
  • Collaboration and storytelling: work with Head of Video/Senior Producer and design team to refine concepts, select music, and generate ideas for future videos and campaigns

SUMMARY: As a for-profit online education company, content storytelling is vital for K12 to attract and retain potential students. As the Junior Video Producer, you will be a part of the Video Team working to develop storytelling content and coordinating production for video shoots. You are a talented video creator with a strong sense of story and know how to translate the K12 brand into compelling video assets. You will work with the Head of Video to set the creative vision for video productions and with the Senior Producer to execute video shoots. Strong post-production skills are essential as you will be tasked with video editing but success in this role looks like presenting strong creative concepts and effective on-set direction.

  • Creative concepting for video shoots. Responsibilities include:

    • Creating concept pitch decks and video treatments

    • Creating storyboards

    • Collaborating with the design team on graphic packages

    • Suggesting music options

  • Pre-production responsibilities include:

    • Read creative brief for each project and ensure concept is achieving the goals set out by stakeholder.

    • Work with the production crew on shot lists and production schedules

    • Work with the production crew to identify filming locations

    • Pre-interview with on-screen talent to ensure they are prepared for production

    • Identify additional equipment necessary to achieve creative vision

  • Production responsibilities include:

    • Act as on-set director for most video productions

    • Work with cinematographer to ensure correct lighting and camera set up for each shot

    • Communicate expectations with on-screen talent and guide them through their filming experience

      • The majority of talent are untrained so the ability to create rapport, communicate with and coach are essential

    • Ensure all essential shots on the shot list are captured

    • Review footage at the end of each shoot day to ensure deliverables have been captured according to the creative vision

  • Post-Production responsibilities include:

    • Edit videos according to creative vision and ensure final delivery is on time and achieves the goals set out in the creative brief

    • Editing videos as required for paid media, competitions, curriculum and other cross-functional purposes

    • Present assets for review and make necessary adjustments

    • Color correct raw footage where necessary

    • Create simple motion graphics where necessary

  • Generate ideas for future videos and campaigns

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Strong understanding of the video production process

  • Lighting and camera operation skills are strongly preferred

  • Must know how to edit video using Adobe Premiere

  • Basic understanding of Adobe After Effects

  • Ability to tell a creative story through video

  • Strong ability to connect with on-screen talent

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

  • Ability to clear required background check

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections.

We anticipate the salary range to be $45,984.75 to $70,000.  Eligible employees may receive a bonus.  This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors.  These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
