Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a Field Geophysicist Intern to join our team for the summer of 2026! In this position, you will join an industry leading team collecting geophysical data to support MMRP (Military Munitions Response Program) investigations and remediation projects. The goal of the internship is to gain knowledge and experience in performing geophysical surveys using various types of equipment and sensors. Additionally, the internship will help progress your college career and give you exposure to the MMRP industry for making future career decisions. You will be working closely with a Project Geophysicist, Site Geophysicist, and Geophysical Team Lead as you are mentored throughout the summer.

What you will be doing before field activities:

  • Completion of medical physical
  • Reviewing project work plans

What you will be doing in the field:

  • Conducting quality control tests and collecting digital geophysical data and GPS data.
  • Acquiring geophysical data using UltraTEM.
  • Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of equipment and methods as well as documenting test results.

  • Troubleshooting issues with sensors and/or collected data and running diagnostic tests as needed.

What required skills you bring:

  • Must be enrolled in geophysics, geology, or related field curriculum and have completed at least one year of studies.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of file transfer/sharing systems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Will be required to obtain OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER on-line training course before starting (Parsons will pay for the course registration, but candidate will not be compensated for completing the training).
  • Extensive travel to field site required, 100%
  • Fieldwork involves performing physically demanding tasks and working 10-hour days (typically 4 to 5 10-hour days per week), potentially in adverse field conditions (cold, hot, high wind, dusty environment, rough terrain) in remote locations.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.

    Salary Range: $22.93 - $40.14
