  • Validate and stress-test AI/ML/NLP models used in high-risk areas (financial crime, cybersecurity) and interpret results for stakeholders
  • Communicate findings to developers, business leads, and risk committees and contribute to model risk governance
  • Improve data model performance monitoring and governance practices to strengthen the bank's Model Risk Management framework

Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Senior Model Validator (multiple positions)  in Minneapolis, MN.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assess externally developed vendor models evaluating data science documentation.
  • Determine compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Validate complex machine learning, statistical, and Natural Language Process (NLP) based data models used in high-risk areas such as financial crime and cybersecurity.
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML algorithms and feature data engineering.
  • Apply advanced programming and statistical techniques using Python, SQL, and SAS to independently replicate and stress-test model performance and outcomes.
  • Interpret results from data and economic analyses.
  • Communicate outcomes to diverse stakeholders including developers, business leads, and risk committees.
  • Perform comprehensive model validation.
  • Improve data model performance monitoring and governance practices to strengthen the bank’s Model Risk Management framework.

Basic Qualifications:

Position requires a Master's degree in Statistics or Applied Economics and 3 years in a Data Scientist, or a related, occupation.

Required Skills/Experience:
Must include 3 years of experience with each of the following:

Manage large datasets, providing information-based decision logic and predictive modeling solutions; Conduct analytics projects using advanced statistical methods including generalized regression models, Bayesian methods, random forest, gradient boosting, neural networks, machine learning, and clustering; Manage data set creations, including data extraction, derived and dependent variable creation, and data quality control processes for analytics and model development; Validation of NLP models; AI and ML algorithms; Feature data engineering; SageMaker and Dataiku; AWS Data Lake and Power BI; and, Python, SAS, R, and SQL.
