JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position is for an Insurance Specialist for our enterprise legal and risk management team. The position will join a new Triage Tiger Team, which will manage the intake process and triage cases to the Greystar team member and/or insurance provider that is best suited to resolve the issue.

The Insurance Specialist plays a critical role by evaluating insurance and legal documents to ensure they are properly identified, triaged, and sent to the correct team members and that deadlines are tracked and met for all lines of business, specifically for Construction, Builders Risk, Property, Environmental, and General Liability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Analyze the intake of insurance claims in connection with Greystar’s business insurance 
  • Manage cases in a Legal Matter Management (LMM) system to make sure matters are properly entered for tracking. 
  • Review new TyMetrix cases in detail and assign them to team members on the risk and legal teams to make sure documents have been received and are being handled by the proper team members and track them to resolution. 
  • Create and continuously improve standard operating procedure guide and standard messaging library to provide excellent and consistent service delivery 
  • Support team members who are new users to a legal matter management system, and support projects related to triage of documents served on the company. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement initiatives and knowledge management projects, and where appropriate, develop and establish best practices. 
  • Identify and assess potential environmental hazards (e.g., hazardous material spills, mold, asbestos, lead) and urgency levels, 
  • Escalate foreseeable high-priority or emergency concerns and escalate them appropriately. 
  • Monitor and review the entry of litigation deadlines, court dates, and related events into the matter management system. 
  • Clearly communicate with professional, accurate, and actionable email correspondence. 
  • Prepare Key Performance Indicators to ensure strong service delivery. 
  • Prepare reporting for senior management to ensure matters are being tracked and KPIs are being met. 

BASIC KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. 
  • Minimum 10 years of claims handling experience. 
  • Understand insurance for pollution liability, environmental impairment liability, and property/casualty coverage triggers.   
  • Ability to identify key environmental regulations and possible regulatory involvement (e.g., EPA, CERCLA/Superfund, RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and state/local agencies). 
  • Experience with Builder’s Risk and Casualty coverage, including wrap-up programs, is a plus. 
  • Experience in Multi-Family Real Estate and Construction is preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of litigation demands letters, claims, pleadings, and other documents, with an understanding of time sensitivity for responses and an understanding of which matters need to be immediately elevated. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications. 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure compliance under tight deadlines. 
  • Claim adjustment experience is a plus. 
  • Experience working with matter management systems or docketing software is a plus. 

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Team members work in an office or remote work environment.  
  • No special physical demands are required. 
  • Rare or occasional travel may be required to attend business meetings, training programs, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all the daily responsibilities of this position. 

Additional Compensation:

Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in a quarterly or annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.

  • Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
