  • Review and approve all contractual documents to protect the company's contractual posture and ensure compliance with government specifications and policy, including interpretation of terms and rights/obligations for leadership.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of contract amendments or extensions and manage the contract lifecycle from kickoff to close.
  • Monitor contract compliance throughout the lifecycle, track milestones and deliverables, and maintain an organized contract repository with version control.
  • Identify contract-related risks, propose mitigation strategies, build and maintain relationships with vendors and clients, and generate reports and insights for management.

Position Summary

The Ultra Commercial function is responsible for negotiating the terms and conditions in contracts, ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions, and agreeing on any changes or amendments that may arise in the management of contracts made with customers, vendors, partners, or employees.

This role performs an important oversight function to ensure adherence to internal procedures on bid management and approval and acts as the conduit between the sales and technical teams and other group functions, including finance and legal. The ideal candidate will have the technical/professional knowledge to make independent judgements, based on practice and relevant previous experience to support decision making. Often seen as a referral point or more senior team member to escalate more complex problems. The role will require the preparation of routine and some complex contracts for the protection of company's contractual posture, satisfaction of government specifications and requirements, and adherence to company policy. The role will conduct negotiations and administration of contracts between the company/customers/subcontractors/vendors ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures and government regulations. The Role will require researching contractual terms and conditions and employing technical concepts. The role will act independently at times with necessary guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves all contractual documents for protection of company's contractual posture, satisfaction of government specifications and requirements, and adherence to company policy.
  • Advises leadership of contractual rights and obligations and also provides interpretation of terms and conditions.
  • Prepare, review, and edit contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and relevant laws.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of contract amendments or extensions when necessary.
  • Lead and manage contract life cycle, including kick-off and close activities
  • Monitor and enforce contract compliance throughout the contract's lifecycle, including tracking key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date contract repository, including version control, renewal dates, and related documentation.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with contracts and propose mitigation strategies to protect the organization's interests.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact contracts and ensure all contracts comply with relevant legal requirements.
  • Generate reports and provide contract-related data and insights to management and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions or provide guidance to employees and team members on contract management best practices and compliance.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of contracts related experience

Experience managing full scope of contract support, including kick-off meetings to close out activities

May be required to maintain security clearance





Preferred Education & Experience

Advanced Degree

Direct experience in DoD or military contracting

Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS

Understanding of commercial terms and conditions

Certification in contract management (e.g., CPCM, CFCM, CCCM) is a plus

Familiarity with specific contract types (e.g., procurement contracts, service agreements, NDAs) may be required in certain industries

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation range for this role is

$116,792.00 - $145,912.00.



Please note this represents the expected range. Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate’s relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
