    • Hourly Compensation: $20.00 - $23.00 Depending on Experience

Position Overview: The Eligibility and Cost Estimate Specialist is responsible for screening patients for eligibility, registering patients, setting up payment plans, explaining in and out of network benefits and answering patient questions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Confirms patient insurance verification and eligibility.

  • Verifies eligibility and benefits for all patients with appointments including the deductible and co-pay information prior to the appointment time. Make comments in each account in the Practice Management system.

  • Evaluates potential patient liability in accordance with insurance contracts in place.

  • Uses insurance carrier tools to estimate patient out-of-pocket costs.

  • Communicates with patient/family directly prior to medical services being rendered based on insurance verification data and medical cost estimates.

  • Negotiates collection deposits of estimated co-insurance, co-pay and deductible amounts.

  • Establishes payment plans on large balances.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare or insurance company setting. Experience with insurance verification and benefit sharing preferred. 
  • Special Training, Certification or Licensure Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
