Roles & Responsibilities

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in British Columbia.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist; newly licensed graduates accepted; experience in mental health OT and/or OT psychotherapy preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and strong written and verbal communication; knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities, and scope of practice.
  • Ability to obtain required clearances (Vulnerable Sector screening; in some cases 2-step TB (Mantoux) clearance within 6 months).

Requirements:

  • Provide individualized and program-based OT treatments and assessments for physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions to improve daily functioning and engagement in meaningful activities.
  • Evaluate physical, cognitive, and psychological functions and workplace demands; develop tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals.
  • Deliver clinical interventions including exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) and teach mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage distress.
  • Educate clients about the recovery process, document assessments and interventions in the client chart, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team while applying sound professional judgment.

About our virtual program 

As the Occupational Therapist you will integrate psychosocial, trauma-informed, and functional mental health approaches into OT practice. You will provide a safe, non-judgmental space, offer understanding on the trauma's impact to help clients feel secure, manage triggers, and build self-awareness. Focusing on holistic recovery through skill-building, routine establishment, sensory strategies, and creating safe, trauma-informed environments to support participation in meaningful work, school, and social roles.

This is a virtual role, and the successful candidate can be located anywhere in B.C

Your impact

You will primarily provide individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals facing physical, cognitive and mental health conditions (anxiety, depression, PTSD, schizophrenia) by improving daily functioning, developing coping strategies, and engaging in meaningful activities. In this role you will:

  • Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment 
  • Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals that gradually increase activity and build tolerance. 
  • Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits. 
  • Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress. 
  • Provide education to the client about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.  
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart  
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment 
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment 

Are you the right fit?

As one of the largest networks of OTs in the nation, you will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, delivering high-quality, client-centered care

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in B.C. 
  • Mental health OT and/or OT Psychotherapy experience 
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, home safety, and/or return to work. 
  • Proficiency in computer skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check 
  • In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months)
