Job description

Job Summary:

The Role

The M&A Business Development Manager is a front end origination role responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing acquisition opportunities aligned with Volaris’ long term investment philosophy. This role focuses on relationship led sourcing, engaging directly with founders, CEOs, and advisors of vertical market software businesses.

This is not a traditional sales role and not private equity. Success comes from credibility, judgment, persistence, and the ability to clearly articulate why Volaris is a permanent, stable home for founder led businesses.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Origination & Founder Relationships

  • Proactively identify and engage vertical market software businesses that align with Volaris’ acquisition criteria

  • Build long‑term, trust‑based relationships with founders, CEOs, and shareholders

  • Represent Volaris’ buy‑and‑hold forever philosophy, decentralized operating model, and long‑term value creation approach

  • Participate in industry conferences and targeted outreach to develop proprietary deal flow

Pipeline Ownership & Opportunity Development

  • Own and manage a pipeline of potential acquisitions from first contact through deal team handoff

  • Conduct high‑level assessments of businesses (market position, revenue profile, customer base, management intent)

  • Maintain disciplined tracking of activity and opportunities using CRM tools (Salesforce)

  • Provide regular visibility to M&A leadership on pipeline health, sourcing activity, and market insights

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with M&A execution teams, Finance, Legal, HR, and Tax as opportunities progress

  • Support preparation of screening summaries and early‑stage materials for internal review

  • Share market intelligence and founder feedback to inform portfolio‑level acquisition strategy

Manager‑Level Contribution

  • Contribute to the evolution of sourcing strategy within the JEV Portfolio

  • Coach and mentor junior M&A or Business Development team members, where applicable

  • Act as a thought partner to Portfolio and M&A leadership on market trends and sourcing effectiveness

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–8+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or relationship‑driven B2B business development

  • Demonstrated ability to source and develop founder‑led opportunities

  • Strong commercial judgment and comfort evaluating businesses at a high level

  • Confident engaging with senior executives and business owners

  • Comfortable operating independently in a decentralized environment

  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA is an asset

What Success Looks Like at Volaris

  • Builds deep, long‑term founder relationships—not transactional conversations

  • Operates with autonomy, discipline, and accountability

  • Brings curiosity, humility, and a learning mindset

  • Aligns decisions with Volaris’ focus on ROIC, data‑driven judgment, and long‑term value creation
