Position at Ziff Davis Shopping
We are seeking a collaborative and visionary Director of Engineering to lead our US-based team. This role focuses on the day-to-day leadership and development of our web, merchandising, and US-focused engineering teams, ensuring we deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in web and commerce platforms, with familiarity in affiliate ecosystems, emerging web technologies, and the application of AI where it adds value. They will be experienced in leading multiple teams, setting clear direction, partnering effectively with product and design, and have a pragmatic approach to balancing delivery pressure with long term technical health.
Responsibilities:
Day-to-day leadership of our US based team as part of the wider global engineering team
Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders, building a strong, engaged, and high-performing organization
Define the short, medium and long-term technological strategy for US projects, and mobilize the team and key stakeholders around it
Work in close partnership with the global engineering leaders to align standards, ways of working, tooling, engineering culture across regions and identify opportunities for the globalization of services
Develop technical solutions that execute the technical vision and meet our business objectives, taking into account the trade-offs to be made between time, quality, and resources, along with the needs and priorities of different teams
Required Experience:
10+ years experience in engineering, including in leadership roles
Experience collaborating with key stakeholders and executives on technical strategy, operational plan, and executing on the roadmap
Can communicate complex concepts with audiences at many levels of technical ability
Demonstrated experience collaborating with stakeholders in many creative disciplines and across multiple locations and time zones
Experience with PHP, Laravel, TypeScript, MySQL, AWS
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the affiliate industry or e-commerce products
Has worked with Cashback Programs
Worked with retail partners
Experience working with AI tooling and integrating it into workflows and user journeys

Compensation Range
Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The salary compensation for this role is $250-$300K. Individual pay within the compensation range for this business unit specific role is determined based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, education and training, as well as business and company performance.
