The Clinical implementation team are a field-based team targeting a specific territory where a need for extra support and an education has been identified.
Each Clinical Implementation Specialist must have a positive, patient-centric attitude, outgoing personality, and a passion for helping patients succeed on CGM therapy. They will be a relationship manager and “coach” for patients and healthcare professionals during the patient’s tenure with Dexcom. They will partner with Territory Sales Managers, Patient Care and other internal resources to ensure that patients stay motivated and successful with their on-going use of Dexcom CGM.
A strong predictor of success for the Clinical Implementation Specialist is the ability to inspire, listen and asses the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals. Communicate effectively in person, on the phone and through web-based communications (webinars, teams, emails etc.) and execute strategies that efficiently engage and educate our patients.
Role Summary
The Clinical Implementation Specialist is a registered nurse with diabetes knowledge. They will provide expert clinical support, education, and training on Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring systems to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
Working with other teams within the business the Clinical Implementation Specialist is an integral part of our service value proposition. This role supports safe and effective CGM adoption, optimises clinical outcomes, and acts as a clinical resource enabling Healthcare teams to independently identify and manage their patients who are already using Dexcom CGM or who would benefit from it.
The Clinical Implementation Specialist is a trusted clinical partner to both primary and secondary care diabetes teams and plays a key role in improving diabetes management through technology-enabled care
Where you come in:
Clinical Support
- You will provide hands-on clinical support for CGM initiation, sensor insertion, troubleshooting, and data interpretation to patients, whilst simultaneously training the healthcare professional to continue this education independently, ensuring a sustainable service
- You will support healthcare professionals during CGM starts, follow-up clinics, and virtual consultations.
- You will act as a subject matter expert on CGM technology, indications, contraindications, and clinical pathways.
- You will provide timely technical and clinical troubleshooting support for device-related issues. Working with technical support teams where necessary.
Education & Training
- You will deliver structured education and training to healthcare professionals
- You will train patients and carers on CGM use, data interpretation, alerts, and lifestyle integration (where appropriate and compliant).
- You will develop and deliver educational resources, presentations, and workshops related to CGM use and diabetes technology.
- You will support onboarding and education for new clinical sites adopting CGM.
Clinical Adoption & Relationship Management
- You will work closely with both internal and external teams as part of our service value proposition to ensure clinical adoption within a specified area leads to an improved and sustainable service delivery
- You will act as a trusted clinical resource to address questions on CGM data, metrics (e.g. Time in Range), and clinical decision-making.
- You will support appropriate and ethical adoption of CGM by demonstrating clinical value and evidence-based benefits
- You will act as a trusted clinical resource to address questions, on CGM data, metrics, clinical decision making and troubleshooting
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- You will partner with sales teams to provide non-promotional clinical support.
- You will collaborate with Patient Care, Medical Affairs, regulatory, and product teams by providing clinical feedback and collating data and real-world insights.
- You will collaborate with charity and product partners where necessary.
- You will collaborate with NHS approved providers to deliver our service value proposition
- You will support product launches, updates, and post-market surveillance activities.
- You will contribute to continuous improvement of training programs and clinical materials.
Compliance & Professional Practice
- You will ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry codes of practice.
- You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of diabetes care guidelines, CGM evidence, and emerging technologies.
- You will keep CPD up to date and maintain professional registration
- You will accurately document clinical activities and feedback using approved systems.
What makes you successful:
- You have strong clinical understanding of diabetes management (Type 1, Type 2, insulin therapy, technology-enabled care).
- You have excellent communication and presentation skills for educating diverse clinical audiences.
- You have confidence working in clinical environments and engaging with senior healthcare professionals.
- You have ability to translate complex CGM data and technology into practical clinical guidance.
- You have strong organisational and time-management skills in a field-based role.
- You are comfortable working independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Essential:
- You are a registered healthcare professional (e.g. Registered Nurse, Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Diabetes specialist Dietitian, or equivalent clinical background).
- You are educated to a minimum of Diploma level. Preferably with a degree or evidence of degree level study
- You have minimum 3+ years’ work experience in a Patient centred environment where good diabetes knowledge has been achieved
- You have excellent communication skills
- You are comfortable with technology, and quick to learn new technologies/solutions or potential ways to communicate with and contribute to our patient’s success
- You have demonstrated high level of performance
- You have strong understanding of CGM systems and glucose data interpretation.
- You have valid driving licence.
Desirable:
- You have experience in diabetes technology (CGM, insulin pumps, hybrid closed-loop systems).
- You have previous experience in a medical device, digital health, or clinical education role.
- You have postgraduate qualification or certification in diabetes care.
- You have experience delivering group education or structured diabetes education programmes.
Working Environment
- Field-based role with travel to hospitals, clinics, General Practice and community care settings.
- Combination of in-person and virtual education and support.
- Occasional evening or weekend work to support clinical programmes or events.
- Occasional overnight stays to attend meetings, conferences etc

Experience and Education:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5-8 years of related experience.
