Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to make appropriate recommendations to improve recovery and RTW outcomes for workers with primary and secondary mental injury.
  • Facilitate meetings with all claim stakeholders (treating health practitioners, injured workers and employers) to support recovery and achieve a safe, sustainable return to work.
  • Provide oversight of mental injury recovery and RTW outcome trends and inform the development of RTW reporting and analytics that drives performance improvement.

As a Mental Injury Specialist, you are dedicated to improving outcomes for workers with mental injuries and working in partnership with all claims operational teams and Client Services to deliver a specialised and proactive service which is outcome focused.

This will be a permanent, full-time position based in the Melbourne office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week).
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement EMLs person centric Mental Injury Recovery & Return to Work strategy, with a focus on support for workers and their employers.

  • Work collaboratively to make appropriate recommendations to improve recovery and RTW outcomes for workers with primary and secondary mental injury.

  • Facilitate meetings where required with all claim stakeholders (treating health practitioners, injured workers and employers), with the aim of supporting recovery and achieving a safe and sustainable return to work.

  • Provide oversight of mental injury recovery and RTW outcome trends and inform the development of RTW reporting and analytics that drives performance improvement.

  • Proactively analyse and identify key risks and challenges, as well as mitigation strategies or escalation strategies.

  • Positively influence claims outcomes for workers and employers through active contribution to case management activity.

  • Ongoing coaching and training for case manager and specialist staff on mental injury and specific recovery needs of individuals
     

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong injury management capabilities with focus on return to work, mental health and medically complex cases.

  • Demonstrated experience in mental health injury management, particularly high-risk significant injury claims.

  • Excellent understanding of the relevant statutory acts and associated regulations and guidelines.

  • Strong stakeholder communication and negotiation skills

  • Insurance/workers insurance experience highly advantageous.

  • Tertiary studies in Psychology preferred. Allied Health study (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Nursing, Social Work or Exercise Science) advantageous.

  • Mental health first aid certificate would be ideal.
