Job description

This is a remote position.

Embrace Healthcare Group powers some of the most innovative healthcare technology solutions in North America, with a focus on enhancing clinical efficiency and compliance across emergency care settings.

EPOWERdoc, a leading SaaS platform within the Embrace Healthcare Group portfolio, specializes in Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) tailored for hospitals of all sizes. Designed by clinicians for clinicians, EPOWERdoc streamlines emergency room documentation with intuitive workflows, customizable templates, peer-reviewed clinical content, and real-time coding assistance—helping providers reduce documentation time and focus more on patient care.

The Opportunity

Most engineering roles ask you to build features. This one asks you to shape the future of healthcare technology.

You’ll step into a lead engineering role where your decisions directly impact how modern healthcare systems are designed, scaled, and experienced. From enabling seamless patient journeys to powering secure, high-performance clinical workflows, your work will influence critical systems that demand reliability, precision, and speed.

This is not just about writing code — it’s about defining architecture, guiding teams, and building systems that can evolve with the rapidly changing healthcare landscape. You’ll operate in a T-shaped development environment, owning product development end-to-end from concept through launch. The pace is fast and AI-assisted, with a focus on delivering high-quality products in weeks, not months. You’ll lead greenfield development initiatives, taking ideas from inception to production in as little as 6–8 weeks, while driving a culture that embraces cloud-native design, scalable microservices, and modern AI-powered engineering practices.

Position Overview

This role blends hands-on engineering, architectural ownership, and technical leadership across modern cloud-native systems. You’ll work across the full stack — leading the design and development of scalable applications while mentoring engineers and shaping long-term technical strategy.

You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to transform complex healthcare workflows into robust, intuitive, and secure digital solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do

Design systems that scale.
Architect and build scalable, cloud-native applications using React, .NET Core (C#), and modern frameworks. Define patterns for microservices, domain-driven design, and distributed systems that can evolve over time.

Turn complexity into clarity.
Translate intricate healthcare workflows into clean, efficient, and intuitive user experiences — balancing usability with regulatory and technical constraints.

Own the platform architecture.
Lead the design of APIs, services, and integrations across the ecosystem. Ensure systems are secure, versioned, and built for extensibility using RESTful principles and modern authentication (JWT, OAuth2).

Build and optimize the data layer.
Design and manage both relational and NoSQL data systems — SQL Server and MongoDB — optimizing for performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed environments.

Drive cloud excellence.
Own and evolve cloud architecture on Microsoft Azure, leveraging services like App Service, Containers, Functions, Key Vault, Storage, Service Bus, and Application Insights to build resilient systems.

Accelerate delivery.
Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, enabling fast, reliable, and automated deployments across environments.

Lead through code and influence.
Contribute hands-on while driving architecture discussions, conducting meaningful code reviews, and mentoring engineers. You’ll set the standard for engineering quality and best practices.

Ensure performance and reliability.
Continuously optimize front-end and back-end systems for speed, scalability, and maintainability in a high-stakes healthcare environment.

Requirements

Who You Are

You have 8+ years of experience building and scaling software systems, with a strong foundation in full-stack development and a track record of technical leadership.

You’re comfortable owning architecture decisions, guiding teams, and working across both strategic and hands-on levels. You understand how to design systems that are not only functional, but resilient, secure, and future-ready.

You bring deep expertise in C#, .NET Core, React, cloud architecture, and distributed systems — and you’re motivated by solving meaningful problems in healthcare technology.

What sets you apart: you think beyond features. You design systems, influence teams, and build software that lasts.
