Roles & Responsibilities

  • Master's degree in education, business, or a related field.
  • Five years of educational experience and one year of supervisory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • State license as a School Administrator (Principal/Administrator) with eligibility for reciprocity if applicable.
  • Experience as an online/virtual educator with familiarity with online learning platforms, plus strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to travel up to 20%.

Requirements:

  • Ensure conformance of educational programs to state and local standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities.
  • Manage teaching and administrative staff, including Master and Lead Teachers and related programs.
  • Develop and oversee the school's Academic Improvement Plan and help articulate the school's mission and vision to align stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively in a predominantly virtual/remote environment; confer with teachers, students and parents regarding educational and behavioral issues; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws including special education; coordinate with K12 Enrollment on expulsions and withdrawals.

  • If the current Teaching Certification is from another state, the hire must get reciprocity within the state of West Virginia within 60 days of employment

Residency Requirements: Strongly prefer residents of West Virginia

  • May consider residents of surrounding states (KY, PA, OH, MD, DE, or VA)

The remote Academic Administrator/Principal in the High School Campus directs and coordinates educational, administrative and counseling activities of student by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:    Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities;
  • As needed, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards;
  • Manages teaching and administrative staff; Manages Master and Lead Teachers and programs;
  • Helps articulate the school’s mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
  • Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school;
  • Coordinates with teacher and K12 Enrollment regarding expulsions and withdrawals;
  • Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws, including laws pertaining to special education;
  • Develops and oversees implementation of the school’s Academic Improvement Plan.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in business, education or related field of study AND
  • Five (5) years of educational experience AND
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to clear required background check

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrable leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Experience as an on-line / virtual educator
  • State License as a School Administrator

DESIRED QUALIFICATION:  

  • Experience working with proposed age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.
