Roles & Responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in senior contract management within defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated commercial sectors, supporting multiple business units concurrently.

  • Highly effective communicator with strong influencing and stakeholder management capabilities, able to engage credibly with senior leadership, programme teams, technical experts, customers, suppliers, and legal counsel.

In this pivotal role, you’ll help define the future of a number of key Teledyne Business Units, collaborating with customers from the Far East to the West Coast of the USA. The Senior Contracts Manager provides support for the Contracts function for Teledyne commercial and defence business units in the UK and is responsible for drafting, negotiation and review contracts for the Business Units.  The Senior Contracts Manager will provide effective contracts management, with the objectives of ensuring compliance with contractual undertakings and applicable laws and regulations, as well as the requirements of the parent corporation, Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (“Teledyne”).

In this role, the Senior Contracts Manager will work closely with individuals and functions, including the General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Operations/Program Management, and Procurement, to provide support for the implementation and management of contracts with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders across the UK.

The Senior Contracts Manager must have strong collaboration and effective relationship management capabilities.  This is a hands-on role – the Senior Contracts Manager must demonstrate initiative and drive matters to conclusion in a timely manner, whilst working idependtly.

The Senior Contracts Manager reports to the Contracts Director.  The Senior Contracts Manager will ideally be based at a Teledyne office located in Essex, UK, however the multi-site nature of this role means hybrid (office/remote) working arrangements will be considered. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex contract negotiations with international customers.

  • Review, draft, and finalize standard and non-standard contractual agreements.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and mitigate commercial risk.

  • Provide expert advice on contract law and commercial terms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic business objectives.

  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce exposure.

  • Maintain strong relationships with global stakeholders and customers.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in senior contract management within defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated commercial sectors, supporting multiple business units simultaneously.

  • Confident handling of complex, non‑standard, and highly negotiated contractual frameworks, including government, defence, export-controlled, and major commercial agreements.

  • Proven track record of leading multi‑party contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms while managing legal, commercial, regulatory, and operational risk.

  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage concurrent negotiations, contract reviews, and strategic support across diverse product and business portfolios.

  • Highly effective communicator with strong influencing and stakeholder management capabilities, able to engage credibly with senior leadership, programme teams, technical experts, customers, suppliers, and legal counsel.

  • Understanding of contract law and its practical application, including defence contracting principles, compliance obligations, export controls, flow‑down requirements, and contractual governance.

  • Advanced competence in drafting, analysing, and interpreting complex contractual documents, including T&Cs, amendments, subcontract frameworks, teaming agreements, and government‑mandated clauses.

Desirable Skills

  • A Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.

  • Proven track record in dispute resolution and claims management
