Job Description Summary:
As an OSP Field Technician II, you’ll take on a more independent role supporting the installation, maintenance, inspection, and documentation of OSP telecommunications infrastructure. This position builds on prior field experience and requires strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work directly with construction teams, utilities, and permitting agencies.Job Description:
What You’ll Do
Conduct field surveys to verify existing utilities, right-of-way conditions, and project requirements
Document field conditions using maps, drawings, notes, and photographs
Support preparation and review of OSP design drawings, construction plans, and permits
Assist with installation and maintenance of OSP infrastructure
Perform field testing and basic troubleshooting of connectivity or performance issues
Collaborate with construction crews, utilities, and permitting agencies to ensure compliance
Track project progress, field changes, and issues requiring escalation
Maintain accurate records including as-builts, permits, and inspection reports
Provide technical guidance to other OSP Field Team members
Operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment safely
Promote and follow OSHA and company safety standards
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma or equivalent
1–3 years of experience in OSP field operations, telecom, or related work
Experience with fiber optic installation, testing, or splicing
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, and field work
Ability to work at heights up to 25–30 feet
Regular travel to project sites with occasional overnight stays
