About the Role

The Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise security controls across applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, and SaaS platforms. This role partners closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, and IT teams to embed secure development practices, strengthen defenses, and ensure systems operate within defined security and compliance standards. You will play a key role in advancing DevSecOps practices, supporting compliance initiatives, and improving Esquire’s overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain enterprise security architecture, standards, and controls across applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, and SaaS platforms
  • Provide technical leadership for DevSecOps practices, including secure CI/CD pipelines, vulnerability management, and security automation
  • Partner with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to embed secure development lifecycle practices and enforce access controls
  • Monitor emerging threats and conduct security architecture reviews for new systems and integrations
  • Lead vulnerability identification, prioritization, and remediation efforts
  • Support incident response activities, including investigation, remediation, and post-incident analysis
  • Maintain security policies and documentation aligned with frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and NIST
  • Manage compliance efforts, including audit coordination, evidence collection, and remediation tracking
  • Support customer security assessments, vendor risk reviews, and security-related RFP responses
  • Evaluate and implement security tools to enhance monitoring, detection, and protection capabilities
  • Provide security guidance across engineering initiatives to ensure secure and compliant delivery
  • Actively demonstrate Esquire’s values

What You’ll Need

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, or related roles
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Technical: Experience with cloud security (AWS), DevSecOps practices, secure development lifecycle, and vulnerability management
  • Security Expertise: Strong understanding of identity and access management, encryption, network security, and secure configuration practices
  • Frameworks: Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and enterprise compliance standards
  • Tools: Experience with enterprise platforms such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Atlassian, and Box preferred
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar certifications preferred
  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Work Style: Collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
