Job Title: Staff Accountant / Financial Analyst
Company: An 8-figure U.S. e-commerce brand specializing in men’s wallets and travel accessories.
Role: Hybrid (approximately 20–25% accounting, 75–80% financial analysis/FP&A, with accounting duties decreasing to 5–10% over time through automation).

Responsibilities:
Accounting (20–25%, decreasing over time)
• Support month-end close in an accrual (GAAP) environment.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forward schedules.
• Assist with revenue recognition across Shopify, Amazon, and other e-commerce platforms.
• Support COGS, inventory analysis, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Maintain organized accounting documentation and workpapers.
• (Preferred) Assist with U.S. sales tax filings across 47 states.
Financial Analysis & FP&A (Primary Focus)
• Provide monthly P&L reporting, KPI tracking, and variance analysis.
• Build and maintain financial models, rolling forecasts, and dashboards.
• Analyze marketing spend, contribution margins, operational performance, and inventory forecasting.
• Support cash flow planning and working capital optimization.
• Conduct scenario analysis, trend identification, and deep-dive analytics.
• Translate raw, unstructured data into insights without step-by-step instructions (critical requirement).
Partnership & Growth
• Work directly with the CFO daily; minimal interaction with broader company.
• Engage in automation opportunities leveraging AI to reduce manual accounting workload.
• Participate in selection, testing, and implementation of financial tools and process improvements.
Skills and Qualifications:
• 3–5+ years experience in accounting, finance, or FP&A (not entry-level).
• Strong understanding of accrual/GAAP accounting, including the rationale behind accruals.
• Experience with e-commerce business models (Shopify, Amazon, inventory, COGS) preferred.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, SUMIF, COUNTIF, data aggregation).
• Ability to work Eastern Time hours (8 AM–4 PM).
• Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Additional Skills:
• Accrual/GAAP accounting expertise.

• Excel / Google Sheets (intermediate to advanced) with pivot tables and formulas.
• QuickBooks Online or similar ERP.
