Job Title: Temporary Data Specialist – Payer Rule Cleanup

Location: Remote

Rate of Pay:$16-$18 per hour

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical temporary Data Specialist to assist with a critical, short-term project: cleaning up and optimizing our database of payer rules (billing rules, authorization requirements, and reimbursement protocols). 

The ideal candidate is a high school or college student who can commit to a minimum number of hours per week (15? 20?) Candidates should be eager to apply their internet search skills to perform lookups and to ensure accurate data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Look Up, Cleansing & Validation: Review existing payer rule sets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Identify, flag, and correct errors, discrepancies, or duplications in the system.
• Database Maintenance: Update existing database entries with corrected payer information, including authorization codes, claim submission protocols, and billing requirements.
• Rule Mapping & Auditing: Compare payer-specific rules against contract documentation to ensure accurate mapping.
• Data Entry: Enter new or updated rules into the database with high accuracy, ensuring adherence to established coding standards and data governance policies.
• Documentation: Document and report on all cleanup activities, noting updated rules and identified discrepancies for future reference.
• Support & Collaboration: Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle or IT team to address data-related inquiries and assist in the smooth transition to optimized data sets.

Qualifications & Skills

• Technical Proficiency: Must be comfortable with AI tools such as Co-pilot and ChatGPT. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Familiarity with database management tools preferred. 
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive data tasks with high accuracy.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to report findings and progress to team members.
• Independence: Ability to work independently under limited supervision to meet project milestones.

Working Conditions

• This is a temporary position requiring prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
