Job description

Position:                      Community Liaison
Classification:             Full-time, Exempt      
Reports to:                  Community Coordinator

Location:                     Montgomery, Walker, Liberty and Chambers County.

Position Description:
The Community Liaison works under the direction of the Community Coordinator to implement, coordinate, and sustain community engagement activities in assigned communities. The Community Liaison advances the agency’s mission by building and sustaining trusting relationships with community stakeholders, facilitating communication and coordination across partners, and connecting community members to resources within the child welfare continuum of care.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with individuals, families, and local leaders within assigned communities.
  • Regularly attend community events, meetings, and gatherings to maintain visibility and foster collaboration.
  • Identify and document existing community supports and services related to child and family well-being.
  • Support advocacy efforts for additional services or resources where gaps exist, in collaboration with community members and partner organizations.
  • Share community observations, feedback, and identified gaps with the Community Lead to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Serve as a point of contact between the community and service providers, ensuring timely communication and alignment with Community Lead priorities.
  • Facilitate connections between residents, organizations, and systems to strengthen natural support systems.
  • Assist in strengthening informal and formal community networks by supporting meetings, collaborations, and partnership activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in community engagement, social services, grassroots organizing, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  •  Knowledge of child welfare issues, family services, and community resource landscapes preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and creatively in diverse community settings.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally responsive engagement.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Home-based office
  • Range of Schedule:  Mon – Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Travel: Frequent - Uses own vehicle on agency business but does not transport clients.  (Must have a valid Texas driver license and current auto insurance)
