Roles & Responsibilities

  • Proven working experience as a Title Attorney, with knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, and litigation documentation.
  • Knowledge of HUD, FNMA, FHLMC, and VA title requirements; understanding of how title issues affect foreclosure processes in MTG’s footprint states.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment; strong writing and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in title examination, curative actions, filing title claims, and coordinating with title insurers and outside counsel; familiarity with proprietary client systems (Tempo, LPS/Black Knight, PMAC) and email communication.

  • Review title documents, handle title curative issues, and communicate with clients regarding title issues, curative processes, and updates.
  • Search and review public records to cure title issues (bank mergers, State Secretary of State Business Entity information, etc.); prepare a summation of the title issue and recommended cure to the client.
  • File title claims and coordinate with title insurers and/or outside counsel; assist in curative title actions as necessary, including providing all documentation requested by the insurer.
  • Request fees for curative measures (including hourly billing if used) and provide status updates to clients through preferred systems; maintain clear and concise communication with clients via their system of record.

The Title Attorney is responsible for the review of title documents, handling of title curative issues, and communication with clients regarding title issues and curative process and updates.

Requirements
  • Independently review title examination documents for previously raised title issues to ensure clear title according to applicable title standards
  • Search and review public records to cure title issues, inclusive of research of bank mergers, State Secretary of State Business Entity information, etc.
  • Prepare summation of title issue and best avenue to cure and provide same to client
  • Request fees for the curative measures taken, inclusive of Hourly billing if used
  • Filing title claims and working with title insurers and/or outside counsel
  • Assist in curative title actions as necessary, including, but not limited to, requesting and providing all documentation requested by the insurer
  • Experience and familiarity with title requirements of HUD, FNMA, FHLMC and the VA
  • Understanding of the impact the title issue has on foreclosure process in each state through the Firm's footprint
  • The ability to clearly and concisely communicate with clients through their preferred system of record.
  • Working knowledge of proprietary client systems (I.e. Tempo, LPS/Black Knight and PMAC) as well as email communication to provide client with status on curative measures

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Proven working experience as a Title Attorney
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Extensive computer and database expertise
  • License to practice law and in good standing in one or more of MTG legal footprint states
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
