Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Perform RAN integrating and commissioning (IC), troubleshooting and acceptance for LTE/5G networks; conduct lab testing and field trials; develop test cases and generate test reports
  • Develop network deployment solutions and procedures, deliver the MOP, and support deployment teams; coordinate actions between local team and Tier3 RD product line support
  • Monitor main malfunction alarms, perform RCA for RAN issues, and provide follow-up investigation and resolution with customers
  • Provide RAN support for rollout/trial projects; coordinate rollout actions and schedules with customer technical teams and Samsung Networks Team; ensure network acceptance criteria and participate in project reviews

The Sr. RAN Engineer on the Networks team will be a key contributor in RAN integrating and commissioning (I&C), new configurations or parameters implementation, and troubleshooting. Also, you will participate in the lab testing, field trials and network rollout.

Role and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform RAN integrating and commissioning (I&C), troubleshooting and acceptance for LTE/5G networks.
  • Develop network deployment solution and procedures, deliver the MOP, and support deployment team to complete tasks.
  • Tier2 technical support of network activities.
  • Coordinate actions and investigation of technical Issues between the local team and Tier3 R&D product line support teams.
  • Conduct the lab testing and field trails, test case development, include environment setup, configuration, test execution to verify the LTE/5G features. Generate test report.
  • Implement new configurations or parameters in the network and verify network performance.
  • Support LTE/5G network elements and new software release rollout.
  • Perform software feature validation and ensure proper documentation/test reports will be provided to customer.
  • Monitor the main malfunction alarms to ensure the network is running normally.
  • Perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for RAN malfunctions, alarms and complex issues, communicate with customer until problem is solved and RCA report was accepted by customer.
  • Provide follow-up investigation and resolution of radio network elements with R&D product line.
  • Customer interface for complex technical RAN issues, new requests, features and software problems and manage internal communication with the local team and HQ R&D team.
  • Conduct the lab setup, configuration, lab test and field trial to verify the LTE/5G features and output the correct scripts for network rollout.
  • Support rollout activities and coordinate rollout actions, schedules and plans between customer technical team and Samsung Networks Team.
  • Take the RAN responsibilities to collaborate with other teams to meet the network acceptance criteria for the customer.
  • Provide RAN support for trial/rollout projects plan, process, document, efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in regular project review meetings with customers.
  • Individual contributions to the team are emphasized and requested.

Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree or higher education in Telecommunications /Electronics Engineering / IT or equivalent

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of both LTE and 5G, vRAN, RAN architecture and features
  • Understanding of 3GPP Standards, network interface protocols, protocol analyzers and network specifications
  • Excellent knowledge in gNodeB/eNodeB configurations, commissioning, integration
  • Top of the line troubleshooting, analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Familiar with site swap/relocation solutions and designs
  • Proactive, self-motivated and with good communication skills
  • Excellent team worker, particularly in cross – cultural teams
  • Stress resistance to manage in multi-cultural and geographically separated teams
  • Willingness to occasionally work over-time and travel based on the projects needs
  • Proficient in English Essential, French an Asset

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in LTE/5G RAN projects in the main LTE/5G vendors or operators
  • Experience on Samsung’s radio equipment, experience on Core Network or IP, etc. preferred

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $95,000 to $130,000 and reflects base salary only. Actual pay will be determined based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills and experience.
