Summary:
The Director, Workforce Management is a strategic consulting leader responsible for guiding clients through workforce transformation initiatives that enhance operational performance, strengthen labor stewardship, and improve patient care. This role focuses on project delivery, client relationship management, and cross‑functional leadership, ensuring our clients achieve measurable results and long‑term workforce sustainability.
The Director will oversee a team of consultants, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with exceptional client satisfaction. This leader will guide the application of Ovation Healthcare’s workforce methodologies—such as labor productivity frameworks, staffing strategies, and workforce governance models—and will drive continuous improvement in our delivery approach.
This role partners closely with service line leaders across Ovation Healthcare to ensure solutions are integrated, practical, and aligned to organizational goals. Rather than being a technical expert, the Director excels at translating data into decisions, facilitating executive discussions, and shaping workforce strategies that fit the realities of community healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop a team of consultants, fostering capabilities in workforce strategy, client facilitation, and project management.
Create a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Provide oversight and quality assurance across all deliverables to ensure excellence in client outcomes.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
Serve as a trusted advisor to hospital executives, clinical leaders, and operational stakeholders.
Lead client discussions to interpret workforce insights, prioritize opportunities, and co‑create sustainable improvement plans.
Build long‑term, strategic client relationships focused on mutual success and systemwide impact.
Project Delivery & Operational Excellence
Oversee the successful delivery of multi‑site workforce management and productivity projects.
Ensure project timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met, adjusting approach as needed to maintain alignment with client goals.
Synthesize operational, financial, and staffing information into clear recommendations and executive‑ready presentations.
Partner with internal subject‑matter experts to ensure solutions integrate best practices in operations, quality, and financial stewardship.
Provide guidance and support to healthcare organizations during the implementation of new workforce management strategies, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption by staff.
Conduct training sessions and workshops for healthcare staff on workforce management principles, best practices, and the use of technology solutions.
Stay abreast of relevant healthcare regulations, labor laws, and industry trends to ensure compliance and mitigate risks associated with workforce management.
Strategic Workforce Consulting
Guide the application of methodologies such as labor productivity, staffing benchmarks, workload modeling, scheduling optimization, and workforce governance.
Develop customized workforce management strategies tailored to the unique needs of each client, incorporating best practices and industry standards.
Translate complex workforce challenges into actionable strategies that improve efficiency, retention, and operational performance.
Support clients in evaluating change readiness, managing implementation, and sustaining results post‑engagement.
Analyze staffing patterns and utilization metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Recommend and implement workforce management technologies, such as scheduling software and analytics tools, to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work across Ovation Healthcare service lines to deliver coordinated, high‑value solutions.
Contribute to the ongoing evolution of Ovation’s workforce frameworks, tools, and delivery models.
Participate in business development activities, including proposal support and thought leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership presence with the ability to engage, influence, and challenge senior executives.
Proven consulting and facilitation skills, particularly in complex healthcare environments.
Ability to guide clients through operational decisions using data-driven insights (without needing deep technical expertise).
Exceptional communication skills—written, visual, and verbal—with the ability to simplify complexity.
Excellent prioritization, time management, and project oversight skills.
Creative, resilient, and self-directed, particularly in a remote and fast-paced consulting environment.
Work Experience, Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
10+ years of experience in healthcare operations, workforce management, or management consulting.
Experience leading teams, delivering client‑facing projects, and managing executive relationships.
Travel Requirements
