Job description

Position Summary...

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Full-Stack) to design, build, and evolve platform services and developer tooling that power the Electrode X ecosystem and its integration with Walmart’s cloud and AI infrastructure.

What you'll do...

About the Team
At Walmart, we are a people-led, tech-powered omnichannel retailer supporting over 2 Millions associates worldwide.

Within the Global Technology Platform (GTP) organization, the GTP.js/Electrode team delivers Walmart’s next-generation JavaScript platform, empowering engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate high-performance web applications at scale.

Our mission is to accelerate application development by providing composable frameworks, reusable modules, and seamless integrations with Walmart’s infrastructure, including telemetry, authentication, and cloud-native deployment solutions.

The GTP.js/Electrode team is responsible for:

• Building and evolving the Electrode X platform, enabling rapid development of React/Node.js applications with best-in-class performance and developer experience

• Delivering reusable archetypes, libraries, and starter kits that standardize application architecture and promote code consistency

• Integrating with Walmart’s cloud-native platform (WCNP), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling

• Supporting a vibrant developer community through documentation, onboarding guides, and open contribution models

• Enabling extensibility so teams can adopt platform modules independently or as a unified stack

As the platform evolves, GTP.js/Electrode is at the forefront of enabling AI-powered developer experiences using Wibey, seamless onboarding, and continuous innovation across Walmart’s global technology ecosystem.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Full-Stack) to design, build, and evolve platform services and developer tooling that power the Electrode X ecosystem and its integration with Walmart’s cloud and AI infrastructure.

  • Architect and develop reusable libraries using Node.js (TypeScript) to support modular, high-performance web applications
  • Build and enhance React-based starter kits, archetypes, and reusable components, to deliver intuitive developer experiences
  • Integrate platform modules with Walmart’s infrastructure (telemetry, authentication, deployment, observability) and enable seamless onboarding for new applications
  • Implement and operate real-time features such as server-side rendering, caching, and micro frontend using Module Federation to optimize performance and reliability
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code, participate actively in code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices across backend and frontend components
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with platform engineers, infrastructure teams, and the broader developer community to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Participate in production support and on-call rotations, helping diagnose issues, resolve incidents, and implement long-term fixes
  • Continuously improve developer productivity and system quality by adopting appropriate tools, frameworks, and engineering practices
  • Design and implement Electrode MCP (Model Context Protocol) actions that can be surfaced and executed through Wibey’s conversational interfaces (CLI, VS Code, Slack, Web)
  •  Enable developers to interact with Electrode platform tooling, documentation, and automation via natural language, making onboarding, troubleshooting, and platform adoption more intuitive
  • Register and manage Electrode MCP servers through Wibey’s MCP panel, allowing developers to discover, add, and invoke Electrode-specific actions (e.g., scaffolding new apps, running diagnostics, accessing starter kits) from their preferred interface
  • Leverage Wibey to automate repetitive platform tasks (e.g., generating boilerplate code, validating configurations, running compliance checks) and surface contextual knowledge at the point of need
  • Ensure Electrode MCP actions are discoverable and executable across all supported surfaces, providing consistent, secure, and auditable automation for every developer
  • Collaborate with the Wibey and platform teams to continuously improve the developer experience and drive adoption of modern engineering practices

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development and full-stack delivery in production environments
  • Deep expertise in Node.js/TypeScript, with hands-on experience building scalable framework
  • Proven experience developing modern web applications using React, with a solid understanding of frontend fundamentals, state management, and API-driven UI development
  • Familiarity with cloud-native deployment models, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling
  • Exposure to real-time systems, such as server-side rendering, chatbots, or search, with an understanding of performance and reliability considerations
  • Experience with observability tools, including logging, metrics, and tracing, to support debugging and production readiness
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to work across backend and frontend layers to diagnose issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn, give feedback, and grow within a team-oriented environment
  • A sense of ownership and accountability, with a bias toward writing clean code, improving systems incrementally, and delivering customer value
