Technical Accounting Manager

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead quarterly and annual impairment analyses for goodwill and intangible assets, documenting findings in comprehensive memos.
  • Oversee the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, articulating financial statement impacts and communicating changes across the organization.
  • Support the internal control framework by developing and maintaining process narratives, flow charts, and other required documentation.

Job description

Overview:

Alliance Laundry Systems is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Accounting Manager to join our corporate accounting team. This role is responsible for leading the research, interpretation, and implementation of complex accounting standards to ensure our financial reporting complies with U.S. GAAP. The Technical Accounting Manager will serve as a subject matter expert, advising on the accounting implications of significant business transactions and ensuring consistency across the organization. This position reports directly to the Assistant Controller. 

Responsibilities:
  • Research, evaluate, and prepare technical accounting memos on a variety of topics, including business combinations, equity instruments, segment reporting, revenue recognition, and other technical areas as applicable.  
  • Lead the quarterly and annual goodwill and intangible asset impairment analysis, documenting findings in comprehensive memos. 
  • Oversee the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, articulating financial statement impacts and communicating changes across the organization. 
  • Support the company's internal control framework by developing and maintaining process narratives, flow charts, and other required documentation. 
  • Review complex, non-standard journal entries and significant contracts, including purchase agreements, leases, and distributor agreements, to identify and advise on accounting implications. 
  • Assist with the preparation and review of quarterly and annual reporting  
  • Document accounting policies or update existing policies for key business areas and assist with the development and presentation of internal training materials for functional teams within the company.  
Qualifications:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification is strongly preferred. 
  • 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and industry experience. 

 

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience with accounting research tools.  
  • Exposure to SEC Reporting is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience in technical memo writing is essential. 
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex accounting concepts to stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Highly organized and adept at managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. 

 

Travel: 

Occasional travel; 10% 

 
Standard and Physical Requirements: 

Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
